If it has an O-ring chain and it probly does all you would have to do is spray som lube on it like wd-40 to keep it from rusting. After you tighten it twice it should stop streching. chains on utilitys usualy last 3 years.

Don't put Wd-40 ona chain, it will only attract dirt and wear out the chain. Special chain lubes are available, tha tsparay on foamy, then drive to either a thick gel, or leave a thin coat of graphite powder. On my atv, I rarely wash the chain. Just once in a while, when I remeber, I quickly wipe it down, and spray on some lube. No prob. My only assumption is that the large 6X6 has a much larger, and therefore much more expensive chain. So I would be a little more careful with it. Even a standard o- ring chain costs around 60 bucks.

i like chain driven quads, you just have to keep the chain adjusted which usually not very hard to do. if you keep it adjusted you should have no problems 230 quadport, bored 20 over, kenda dirt dogs

NO WD-40 !!! Use a lube that is made just for chains, as some other products will eat up the o-rings or attract too much dirt, which means even more wear. The chain on my 300 EX is just over five years old and will be changed in the near future because it has stretched out and there is no adjustment left. I never really did anything special for it, just cleaned it ocassionaly with degreaser and put more lube on it. I use Maxima chain wax and it seems to do a good job.

don't worry about the chain drive. my dad bought a polaris trail blazer and after you ride it the first time the chain will be loose. but just tighten it and and it will stay tight for awhile.after two or three times you wonn't have to tighten very often.on my 300ex I haven't tighten my chain in atleast a month. so don't worry about it. later :D

I am very close to bying my polaris 6x6 the only thing stopping me from bying it ,is that i'm a little scared of chain driven atv's.Could someone please tell me how your chain/atv's are holding up? and also what's the maintnance?thank's for the replies!!!

I have an Xplorer 300 and 400...just bought a Scrambler400. I neglected to grease the chains for months and months and never tightened them either for months at a time. Never had any problems!I have three chains on each of my Xplorers! Just keep the chain greased and ride! I like the feel of chain drive too. Thats my opinion on this subject. The only little thing I disliked about the chain is when I would wash my quad in the lake. I could see a bit more oil at the surface of the water. But then again I usually over grease my chains...they drip! I don't wash it in the lake anymore too.
