Yup, always replace the sprockets and chain as a set, It also wouldn't hurt to run a straight edge or shoot a laser down the chain to make sure all is lined up straight. =] .02¢

My frineds 89 lt250s keeps throwing it's chain. At first it did it every once in a blue moon and then he cracked his cover. We got a new cover and also replaced the axle bearings and the swing arm bearings because they felt pretty loose. Everything feels tight now but now he throws his chain every time we go out. we do all trail riding and go through alot of brush. He just cracked the new cover. We tried to tighten the chain and i think we alot are tighter than we are supose to be and it still thows the chain. We are able to roll it back on with no problem. Nothing looks bent but the sprockets looks worn. could the problem just be worn sprockets. It just seem odd that after the new bearings it throws the chain more. We want to find out what is wrong before installing a new cover, again.
thanks

Thanks. i'll tell him to go ahead and get the sprockets and chain. I'll also try a staightedge or laser.

Replace the sprockets and make sure the front and back sprocket are straight with one another. And replace the chain if you going to replace sprockets
