Well, since you didn't mention the length of the loop or distance of the race or type of desert terrain I'll assume it to be 50 miles at a minimum and typical low desert with rocks, rain ruts, hard pack, soft sand, etc., any or all of which requires full skid protection and/or higher clearance so I'd think the 22"rears would be good insurance, and your ride would certainly pull that size in the tech low speed stuff as well as giving you a little more top end for the fast stuff. As you know, Turf Tamer's domain is a groomed track where the two ply tire's lighter weight is a big plus in getting out of the gate. If I were doing it, I'd opt for the Bandit XC at about $60 ea. As a true 4 ply with the bead- to- bead Kevlar band in addition and a fairly hard compound with tread lugs you could drop a Buick into,I'd bet you would finish your race with the tires you started with.

I am gettin ready to run a desert race and know that my MX turf tamers are not gonna cut it. I figured that this would be the only reason that I would use these tires that I will just buy a set of 20's or maybe even 22's. Still gonna go with the turf tamers cause there cheap and I don't have the funds right now. What size do you suggest?

The race is a wimpy 50, but its probably gonna have some snow on the ground thanks to mother nature lately. The turf tamers are a 4 ply tire I thought. And the Bandit's are a 6? I made my choice though, I went with a 20 inch Holeshot. I figure I can use them for all my types of ridin/racin. I also bought a Armadillo Swingarm Skid plate. So I figure I should be ready as I'll ever be.
