If you owe money on it, you don't own it.
Hypothetically, you could sell it to someone, and not make full restitution to whoever the lien holder is. When the buyer tries to title it, it could be reported stolen, or the lien holder could require him to surrender the vehicle or make full restitution to them.
I know if I was a buyer and had that happen, the legal ramifications I would unfold on the seller would be less the cordial.

You must come up with as much unsecured loan money as it takes to pay off the quad first. Then sell the quad with a title and pay back as much money as possible with what you sold the quad for......and pay the rest back later....

It is quite illegal to sell a titled vehicle without a title. You dont want to do it.

sell it for payoff even though it's really high payoff, someone will see it and think they're getting a good deal.

I still owe around $9000 (don't ask) on an '05 Brute Force 650 Camo. I know I'll get less than $7000 if I sell. Can I sell this w/o the title? What are my options?
