polaris 800 or brute force 750.....who knows about the 800 bomb

My money would be on the Arctic Cat. The 650 H1 or V2 with some good tires. Power, ground clearance, and weight; hard to beat there setup for a mudding machine.

Any of the following would ver very good. But, you will want to add aftermarket mud tires like vampires, mudzillas, etc.
Brute Force 750: IRS, awesome power, good ground clearance and controlable front diff locker.
Polaris 800efi SP: IRS, great power, great ground clearance, all wheel drive when in 4wd.
Artic Cat 650 v2: IRS, great power, highest ground clearance, on/off front diff locker
Grizzly 660: IRS, good power, great ground clearance, on/off front diff locker
Suzuki KQ700: IRS, good power, good ground clearance, on/off front diff locker
Honda Rincon650: IRS, fair power, good ground clearance, but no front diff locker
Polaris 700efi SP: IRS, good power, great ground clearance, all wheel drive when in 4wd
Polaris 700carb: IRS, good power, great ground clearance, all wheel drive when in 4wd
