pred tranny and other issues have been repaired for 04, and honda is notorious for being the most reliable machines on earth, so durability shouldnt be too much of a concern either way. both are fast machines with great mx capabilities and good trail manners. The most important thing to do is to get on them, see what fits you and which you feel more comfortable on. You should be happy either way.
that said, screw the pred, the honda looks better, is faster, is lighter (important w/o reverse), and i the ergos are better. JMHO.

i believe it was posted elsewhere that there is an electric start kit either availible or going to be availible for the trx450r.

I'd say that if the $500 isn't an issue for ya, get the 450R. I personally think it's a better looking machine than the Pred (not to take anything from the Pred, it's a nice looking quad) and it's a Honda wich has a better history of reliability than Polaris does. Just my .02.

The pred gives you a better bang for your buck, if your not going to race stay away from the 450r... The pred weighs more because it comes with more goodies stock like good tires rims axel etc.. You also have 50 more cc and with the rite mods a pred is almost unbeatable...

I have been looking at both quads wandering what I should do? The Polaris Predator is 5999 and the TRX 450R Honda is 6499. So already spending 5999 on a Predator would it be worth it to jump 500$ and have the Honda? Have any of you guys rode any of these before? Have you financed either of these two before (how much a month)? I hear there both wonderful machines, I am just having a hard time with deciding. I mostly ride in trails and do poker runs. Thanks! Oh I always wandered is the Arctic Cat 400 sport quad exactly like the Z?

if you want electric start go with the pred. If you want no electric start and kick start go with the 450r. The pred is fast enough. Thats just my opinion. I just bought an 03 bombardier ds650 but if i had to choose between those two i would go with the pred.

DVX400 is the same thing as a KFX or Z400, just with different plastics and a different location for reverse. See this thread for a lengthier discussion of how they are the same.

the predator is a good bike, it can definately keep up with the 450r, besides the 450r does not live up to all the hipe everybody says, read the Feb dirtwheels, If you want a wide range of aftermarket then the 450r is your choice, that is the one thing i dont like about my predator is that it is somewhat difucult to find aftermarket parts for it

I would get the 450r. I rode my friends the other day and it was unblieveable. i own a yfz450 and the 450r is as fast as my 450

the weight difference alone is enough to make me choose the 450R. 350 lbs compare to 4 hundred and something lbs. The Pred is about as fast as a 440ex. The 450R is fast. Final answer....blaster j/k.....honda 450R
