ricky, congrats on a great buy on a great little quad. I put my son on one at age 9 after he outgrew his LT80, he was almost hitting his knees on the handle bars !! The Recon is a peppy, light, fun to run quad, great mud and splash protection, easy to wheelie over logs and rocks on the trail, and a decent little jumper. Keep the oil changed and the air filter clean, and it will run for years with no problems.

I love our recon!!! Its been along time since I have seen a tan one. I see mainly red and the green ones.

rickytz7111,

I hope you enjoy it as much as we have ours. First thing I would check is when was the last time the oil was changed, spark plug and inspect the air filter.

After that I would maybe change the rear end oil.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Make sure you check the oil, listen to the motor and look around for signs of being wrecked. Does it need tires? That's at least another $200.00 if it does. If it's in good shape and not the tan color then it sounds like a decent deal. (I didn't like the tan color.)

When I was pricing Recons back in 2001. One dealership was trying to sell me a tan Recon and stated that it was their most popular color. I bought a green one from another dealer.

rickytz7111- Good luck with your new purchase. Buy a skid for the bottom and you'll be able to most anywhere. (If it doesn't already have a skid.)

You could put a bike speedo on it for the low price of $20.00 (at most any store) with 8 functions. Just like the one in my one picture. (It's a little hard to see. Pic 5 on left side.) I actually got mine for $8.00 when a local business went under. It worked great but no back light.

rickytz7111- What color is your Recon?

Buy it at this price if it's in good shape and drives OK. You'll use it for 3 years and break even when you sell it. Don't wait ... I lost 3 good deals by going back the next day.

Good luck

I'm thinking about buying a 2000 recon for $1800. It looks like it's in really good condition. Is this a good price for one? He was firm on $2000 but he says that he needs the money bad.

No it's not hot. The guy has the title and everything to it. So it sounds pretty good? I'm going to look at it tomorrow.
