I'll second a rec' for the TRX90. Very reliable and only needs basic maintenance. One of the larger mini's and gives them a chance to learn to shift. Also has same set up on brakes as most big quads - right hand = front, Left hand and right foot = rear. Ours goes on any trails that the 4x4's go on.

Dont over look or under estimate the 125 Yamaha Breeze. we have had one for 2 yrs now and it will go with the best of them. And it is a perfect size for a small sized 9yr old thats how my son was when we got ours.Heck he rides any trail I go on and he even jumps the thing preaty good.

look at the lakota sport. very easy to ride (auto clutch) and easy maintenance. very reliable and looks great. not too big for her age either. i have one for sale if you are interested.

ok first of all a 9 year old is not going to handle a 400ex and up.
i would look into a lt80 or i'm sure that the honda 90 is also reliable. if you want something bigger id get a z250 or the 250ex.
if she is small she will probabably fit a lot better on the mini's. The 250s she wont be able to control as well but will last a while. so if you think she can handle the weight and size get a 250 if not get a 80 or 90 hope that helps good luck

I'd take her to as many dealers as you can and let her sit on them all. If she can fit on it and reach the controls, then she should be fine for easy rides, plus she'll probably never out grow it and it'll run forever. Also, if you know anyone who owns a 250ex or something similiar let her ride it, if she's afraid of it I'd lean towards the 90's. But if she's okay with it for the easy stuff, why not get a 250 and not have to worry about the loss you'll take when you sell it to get her a 250 in a couple of years. Also, at the Windrock riding area near Knoxville I've seen a 7 year old riding a 250ex on trails that I wouldn't want to go on without my 4wd. She's there with her parents all the time and from listening to the folks that know her, she rides better than most of the adults. So go ahead and let her ride some and sit on them all, that difinitly won't hurt anything and maybe you'll even get to save some money for a change.

I highly recommend the Honda 90. It is a tough and extremely capable little machine!! My son rides his EVERYWHERE I go, including some gnarly technical trail rides. She will have to learn to shift though. If whe is on the small side, the bike is big enough that it will last her for years.
The bikes Eiger mentions, are big for most 9 year olds. My daughter was riding the Recon at 9, but she has always been real big for her age.

Wow! People are recommending a little of this, that and the other thing for a 9 year old. It's a potpourri of different quads. Let's look back at a couple facts. 1. small quad 2. 9 yr. old daughter 3. she is on small side 4. some experience riding 5. something that she wouldn't outgrow in a couple years 6. 4-stroke
7. maintenance friendly. First, I have to say that they recommend that a child be 16 to ride a 125cc and up. Although, I believe that some children have the experience and size to drive a 250cc. Seeing that your daughter has 7 yrs. until she's 16 and she's on the small side. I would not recommend a 250 and up. Recommendations are as follows: 6-11 yrs. 50 cc. - 12-15 yrs. 90 cc. - 16 yrs. 125cc and up. The 4-stroke Honda Sportrax 90 seems like the obvious choice. But doesn't it seem odd that they recommend quads with a 40cc (50 to 90 cc's) difference between the ages 6 to 15 years old? Some of them are 2-strokes and probably faster than some larger 4-strokes. Then when you turn the magic number of 16 you can drive anything from a 125cc to a 700cc KFX. Odd isn't it? I am going to recommend a 4-stroke Suzuki Quadrunner LT 160 or a Yamaha Breeze 125 and then her next step will be a 250cc or up. I would buy the Suzuki because it has a little more power for $200. less than the Breeze. If she doesn't want a 5 speed Suzuki then the Breeze is a auto.

Even though its not a sport quad have you thought about the Bombardier Rally? It is a quick little quad and it has an auto trans so it will be easy for her to drive. The Bombardier Rally is the fastest in its class in a drag race. The only thing is it tops out at like 43 but that is definantly fast enough for a 9 year old. I would highly recommend you looking at the Rally. I think it would be a good choice for your daughter and she wouldn't grow out of it any time soon. Good Luck shopping

I would like info on the best choice for a small sport quad for my 9yr old daughter.

Thanx for the info. She is a little on the small side, but has had some experience riding. I wanted something that she would'nt outgrow in a couple of years and also wanted a four stroke, which seems to be a little more maintenance friendly. I've had good luck with honda products through the years.

Hi, I have a 8 year old daughter that I bought her a LT 80 last year. She has been riding dirt bikes since the age of three. She now has a KTM 50 and a KTM 65 and a 2003 LT 80, well so much for the bikes since I bought her the quad last year, she spends all her time on the 80 and usually wont get off of it till it is out of gas, we have had NO PROBLEMS with this machine it is awesome. From time to time I get on it and she gets mad at me, lol. I dont think your daughter would be dissapointed in this machine either. She has been racing it too and doing very well. I have put many aftermarket parts on this quad to make it better for her to race. The motor is stock and her first race she lapped the other kid she was racing with both races I know you wouldnt be dissapointed in a Suzuki, I as a father wouldnt want my daughter on any other machine. I have been hearing lots of complaints on the other machines like the new polaris and eton. Well this Suzuki is been put to the test and no dissapointmenst!
