East Kentucky Motor Sports is the best place I have found for ATV tires. Good place to try and the web site is great.
As for snow, I would love to plow a driveway or two but it snows once every 4 to 5 years and melts by noon. We just play in the mud wearing shorts and a T Shirt this time of year.

We are fortunate to have so many nice choices to pick from. When the time comes for me to buy one, it will be from one of these following ATV's: Arctic Cat 500I Auto, Arctic Cat 500 Auto, Quest 650, Grizzly 660, Sportsman 500 H.O., and maybe a Traxter 500 I have driven the Grizzly so far, and I really liked it, but I am wondering if I would be better off with a heavier quad to push the snow. Last tuesday we got 12-14" of snow up here. In Willmar, MN they got near 30"!! Would be nice if I had a 4 wheeler right now, but I am trying to be patient and save up the money so I can pay it all off with cash hopefully.

We already have a small JD TRS 24 snowblower with chains on it, but it would take along time to do our driveway with it. Our driveway is at least 470 feet long and the majority of it is up a hill. Plus we have gravel, and the I don't like it when the blower throws the gravel! We have already had one of our neighbors come up with a Case IH 4 wheel drive tractor blow us out already when we got 12-14" a while ago. And we have a JD GT 275 Lawn Tractor, but I want a Quad, because I also want it for not only snowplowing, but pulling a 7 tooth springtooth plow, and leveler drag. I know that Quads can push snow well, as I have seen pictures on this forum, etc. And I think it would be fun, and not too much work! I have thought about a Pickup with a plow, or a Tractor, but we have no room in our garage to park either one. And No, I am not building another shed to put it in. I like to keep the equipment inside, and out of the cold. So I think a Quad can do the job fine.

i would go buy a cub cadett with a blade or a thrower with a hyd lift a quads
frame is not ment for that kind of abuse. i plow with my cub and have fun with
my quad. or buy a used or new 2 stage snow thrower with power to the wheels.
for 1G you can get a good thrower thats not much more than a blade maybee even cheaper
just my 2 cents

Hammer4,
your very correct,it is a tough call. With SO many very nice 4x4 ATVs available,it can get confusing.
My choice would be the new 660 Grizz. My friend Jeff owns one and its the WHIP!Rides excellant, has a locking front diff, has all the power you will ever need, and looks real nice to.As for the weight issue here??My Xplorer 4x4 is 588lbs STOCK.I added a set of 26 inch GoodYear Mudrunners on all 4 corners and I easily plowed my driveway in last yrs storm, which brought on 16 inches of snow. The TIRES will make a HUGE diffarance on ANY ATV.
Best of luck with your new ATV,
Bill

I'll vouch for the Grizz as well. I have a factory plow that I received from an incentive and I'm impressed with the entire package. The plow works like a champ and the machine is great.
The tire treds are pathetic, but I just ordered a pair of V-bar chains, should make a dramatic improvement.
Good luck with your decision, personally I think you'll have more fun with the Grizz or the Sportsman.

i bought a new grizzly, and put on a plow hooked up to the winch. weight is not really an issue with plowing as much as tires are. the grizzly's stock tires are weak at best. i want to order some mudrunners for it, just dont know where to order them from yet. as for power to get the job done, heehee. man, if you only knew the power, lol. good luck with your desition. i would highly recommend the grizzly, for the all aroung great quad!

Weight, Ground Clearance, Low-end Torque, and Traction. OF course I'll say the 500i manual (not sure about the auto). Whatever you choose, consider, getting after market tires (with deep tread), and adding weight to the ATV (old farming trick for tractors to increase tread to ground efficiency). If you can get 12" or so of clearance, deep tread, 800 lbs (with added weights, & plow), low gearing option; I'ld bet you could just about blast through any drift or pile....
I grew up in Up-state New York, and plowing drive ways with ATV's is actually fun. Doesn't seem like work at all. Anyway, good luck, you really can't go wrong these days, with the ATV's they build.

Just from my use so far this year my Sportsman will do all that I have asked it to in the snow. My family up until this year has used a 1950 Ferguson To-30 with a 6 foot blade to plow snow. It worked really good but the atv will blow it away!! I am running a 60" plow with the deluxe plow frame. I am not running chains because the stock tires are just fine. I think the Grizz or anyother atv would plow good also. The frames have plenty of strength as long as you don't get stupid with it like a friend of mine did. Has a 00' Grizz 600 that destroyed his plow and cost him a new frame (ran into a ditch). Just make sure you buy a good brand of plow. I can only vouch for the polaris brand. Just my 2 cents.
