There isn't much to complain about on either the Rancher (2X4) or Recon. These are utilities, so the suspension is of course limited, and the steering on both is a bit twitchey in the soft stuff at slow speed. Both bikes are fun to ride and handle VERY well.

If this is your first utility Quad, it would be real hard to go wrong with the Recon. I own both a Recon, Suzuki LT160, and a Rancher 2x4 and would be happy to recommend either of the Honda's. Did not like the Kawasaki as it did not turn sharp enough, did not handle well, and the engine gave off too much heat. The Suzuki has not had one breakdown in the 12 years I have owned it but is dated in design. The Recon is light to handle, suspension is good, the engine accelerates well, it is a little jewel for the money. The Rancher is bigger to manhandle and is more suited to a large sized rider. The Rancher turns sharp, absorbs the bumps a little better than the Recon, has lots of clearance, has a top speed somewhere over 50 and the engine seems to do it's job without straining. The Recon may actually slide a bit better than the Rancher. Hope this helps you but they are only my opinions-the best way is for you to test drive both.

I'm looking for my first utility atv. I'm 14 and i'm looking to spend from 2000-3000 on a quad. Preferably i would like a honda rancher but i'm thinking it may be too expensive. I'm also really looking at the honda recon. Give me some good and bad things about these quads and anyother models you think i should look at thanks
