If you trail ride, the Shee is really a handfull. Its geometry isn't well suited for the trail, and it doesn't have any low end power. Plus, the stock suspension of mediocre at best. But, in open country, when that powerband hits, it's a real thrill.

From what you have said I'd vote for a clean 400EX.

i agree with getting the 400EX. i could have gotten a banshee but i got the 400 (mainly cuz i race cross country but also for its all around abilities). the 400 will be a lot slower but for you it should be more than enough.

If you limit yourself to Yamaha then you don't have many choices. Look at lt250r's they are great bikes and you can usually get them cheap. 250r's are good too but more expensive. Lt500's are rather cheap too and are much faster then the banshee or raptor. But if you're looking for something newer the 400 ex is probably the best all around. Although I haven't ridden a raptor so I can't tell you anything about that.

I have been looking to buy a a high performnce atv. I dont have the money to buy new so I have been looking to get a clean used atv. I have been eyeing a 400ex or a banshee what would you reccomend... I like lots of power for blasting up steep sand hills but not only limited to sand I ride pretty much everywhere . I have not ridden the banshee but man I really think it looks great.. The honda has great suspension.... I know but I am afraid that it will lack the hit of the banshee. What do you think?
Also is the raptor really worth the few thousands more it would cost me or would I be better of wwith the other 2
