Greetings, There's a lot of variables in a choice like this and a lot of options to choose from -- but here's a few thoughts to consider. 1. In my opinion, I'd get something fairly different from what you already have. Its just fun to have a choice and to have a little variety in your riding. 2. Unless your going to do some heavy duty hill climbs or mudding, I think 4X4 is over-rated. Not everyone agrees, but I find the front wheels on my 450ES rarely kick in and I find the Recon goes pretty much anywhere I want it too. 3. I think we too often consider Sport quads like like Sports cars -- made for the open road. But they're still ATVs and go through a lot of tough stuff, you just have to approach things differently than you would on a 4X4. 4. And there are some "sporty" 4X4s out there like the Wolverine or some of the Polaris models.

we currently own a 2001 rancher 4x4 that we got around thanksgiving and we love it and want to get a second quad. I want to get either another rancher 4x4 or a sport quad like a 300ex or a banshe. My dad on the other hand thinks that a 2x4 rancher would be adquit. that would be fine but i own a 2x4 s10 and if the atv world is like that at all i wish i had a 4x4 when it comes to going off road. what are the pros and cons of all these solutions? Are there any other possibilties or other models comperable to a rancher?

Go with the 300ex! I have had both, and the sport machine is much more fun. I can climb hills, whip thru trails and almost anything else a 4X4 can do, but faster. Have fun!
