Hi Tim,
If you race like me (for the fun of it) your warrior will be fine. Won't win and you'll get beat up, but it'll be fun.BR>
Kid:: You need to see what age requirements are in place at the tracks you will run.
If your rider has no riding expierience, I'd for sure be getting a 90cc mini. He will need to learn alot. Even if it's for only a year, I'd think safety over dollar amount. The 90's are raced till 15 yrs old.
For the future, I'd be getting him a 300ex to ride around the house.
I've had both blaster and 300ex's..I recommend the blaster to my competitors! <EG> The 4 stroke is way more easy to race, not to mention have working brakes and very reliable.
Have fun.

I flattrack raced a old warrior for 2 years..just remember set up is 75% and power 25%.. you can have all the power in the world but if you dont have the set up..your not going to do very well..Iv got a 9 year old boy and a 8 year old boys..and they have done a little flattrack racing..and its about as safe as racing gets...they will put them in a CC class with there age class..and them kids have a blast..and its somthing you can do with him..you can help him during his race..then he can watch you during yours...and when he gets the handle of racing other people then its easyer for them to go to mx..

My 12 year old son is wanting to get into racing, I was wondering where to start him out. The local tracks around here( houston area) have a Blaster class but that might be to much for a beginer rider. If we start him off in lesser class we would only get one year out of a bike, i think this would be a pretty cool thing for us to get in to I just have to figure out the best route. Would a slightly modified warrior (98) be ok for the dads class?
