Any AMA/ATVA santioned races require a front bumper nunber plate.
We talked ourselves blue in the face explaining that they cannot be read because of mud anyways, but the rule stands.
Put a plate on the front bumper and be safe.

email/call someone who knows.......not sure what type of racing you are doing.....but the plates can also help preventing mud in the radiator too(from roost)

get to the race early, there's usually a trailer where you can buy numbers and number plates. At least the races i've been to.what does it take 5 mins to put one on. I know for your back, i know your rear fenders don't count they want a number plate on the back. And just from the races i've been to front numbers on the hood will pass.

I would just buy the number plate and put that on, and when you are there ask. If you can run it with no number plate, then take it off. But just to be safe, I would.

I've seen a lot of guys with their racing numbers on the hood of these quads, below the headlights, but the AMA rule book says your quad must have a front and rear number plate. Is it acceptable to put your numbers on the hood of the quad, or must you have a number plate attached to your front bumper?

Well it's a motocross race on the beach, so there shouldn't be too much mud so to speak. Since the 400ex is air cooled I was concerned that I'd block airflow to the oil tank by putting a number plate up front. I get no answer when I call the event sponsor but I don't want to be turned down at the gate either.
