Does anyone know what company makes good shocks for the recon? And what exhaust company is better Suppertrapp or DG.
Posted by: spit
this is what you have to type in to see the site ReconRider25's Site , you have to type it in the Yahoo search ,thats what my recon looks like except mines the olive type green.

you could install a diffrent bumper, change the stock air filter to a k&n or Twin-Air ,make a grab bar, install diffrent handlebars, remove the racks, install 300ex nerf bars, jet the carb and new exhaust.
I tried to race against a blaster i lost because the blaster is 2-stroke ,never raced against a 300ex yet but i think i could beat one
mine goes about 54 now cause i just rejetted the carb and the new air filter.

When you removed the rack did you remove the front bumper too? if so thats why it slides just remove the top part like the parts of the rack that go down through the plastic that are bolted to the frame, and part of the rack bolted to the stock front bumper.
I do some muddin.

higher does make it more top heavy and it may tip,if you add a 2" lift add some 2.5" durablue wheel spacers to help keep it level.

Its really easy to add wheel spacers and it should be able to pull the mudlites with out bogging,my recon use to be a mud bogger i had it snorkeled and lifted it 2" higher, im thinking of doing that again for a little while,if i had 2 recons, 1 would be a sport recon and the other would be a mud boggin recon.

the stock snorkel that comes out of the air box and goes beside the gas tank get a long vaccume hose about 4 or 5 feet long replace the little stock snorkel with that and run it up beside the gas tank and mount it on the front rack with the end of the hose in the air.it handled ok just try to keep it from going on its side.i dont have any pics of it, sorry.

I cant really swear that nothing will go wrong cause when i snorkeled mine everthing hooked to the airbox was tight but i had it deep in the muddy water and some got in the snorkel and got sucked into my carb, so just make sure the snorkel is high enough off the rack and put a piece of PVC pipe on the end, the kind of PVC pipe shaped like an elbow macaroni.

Yeah, what you do is weld a piece of metal pipe over the end of the exaust that goes out from the exhaust about 2 inches and then straight up about as high as the other snorkel.

I dont know if clamps will work but it does decrease some power, but a jet kit will more than make up for the lost power.

Yes the stock snorkel shaped like an "S" take that out make sure the vaccum hose is the same size as the part of the "S" shaped snorkel that was inserted in the air box and then just clamp on the vaccum hose.

When you install the air box snorkel make sure you leave enough room so you can turn the handlebars without hitting the snorkel, and make sure you make some type of bracket to attach to the front rack to hold the snorkel still up front cause if nothing is there to support it it will flop around.

You could make your recon look like a 300ex by removing the headlights and headlight panel , just take out the screws holding the headlights and headlight panel, the screws are attached to the bottom of the front fender and the wires going to the headlights have a spot where you can unplug the all 3 the wires. The 3 wires that unplug are the high beam, low beam and off.and they are held by a little bracket just on the left side of where the rack comes through the plastic.

you dont need to cut the plastic, and it shouldn't bounce around cause i did that to mine and it didnt bounce.

I took off the front rack and left the stock bumper on for a few days, but the stock front bumper didnt look right with the headlights and headlight panel off so i took off the stock bumper and ordered a DG bumper, that helped alot.

Yes you can put the headlights back just screw it all back together, so you dont have to relocate them ,its not a exact replica but it reminds you of a 300ex.

Yes the maxxis tires are on stock rims and so are the back tires, the back tires are GBC Mud Busters and they have good traction but they are heavier than the rear stock tires were, so i cant get it to jump as high off my ramps and dirt mounds as well as it did with the rear stock tires. So how are those mud lites? are they heavier or lighter than the stock tires?

Yeah you could either but progressive shocks or use shocks off a 250ex. Hey i saw a post by you awile back that said you had renoved a bunch of things.right well could you post some pics of your recon.nd also How do i get to www.reconrider25.site?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
hey if i removed the racks on my recon wouldnt the fenders bounce all around.i got an o4 recon if it matters. Also is that a 250ex bumber? and did it damage any thing when you fliped the rims?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
yeah,I was
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
well what could i do to it? How fast does you go? and could yours beat a blaster or a 300ex?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
I just got back fro the dealer,i ordered mudlites for the rear.Hey when i removed the front rack the front started to slide around so i put it back on,why does the front slide when i remove the front racks off?And so all you did was jet it and got a new air filter? if so thats a pretty chap fix fir power.ever do any mudin?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
yeah i did reove the bumper also, would a 2inch lift kit amke it easier to tip over?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
i think you and i may be trying to make our recons do something diifrent yours is a sport quad, and mines a mudin machine Is it hard to put wheel spacers on? And would the recon be able to pull mudlites on all four rims with out boggin down?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
how do you snorkel it? how did it handle with the lift kit? and do you got any pics of it when it was a mudder?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
i think it looks kinda tacky when it runs along the out side is there any way it could go inside the plastic? how much bigger did the liftkit make it?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
and if i snorkel it yo swear i wont kill my quad when i go deeeeep and i mean deeeeeeeeep almos over the racks deep?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
yeah,i was planing to do that because i thought it would look cool hey cold i snorkel my exhasut?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
would i have to weld it? or could i just use metal clamps to put iy on? And would it decrease power?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
Would i need to buy a k and n air filter with the jet kit? and would the snorkel decrease power?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
Is the snorkel that clear piece of tubing under the seat? it kinda look like a "S"
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
so all i have to do is take that off then put a vaccum hose where it went then make the vaccum hose come out the front ?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
sounds easy, are there any sideeffects i should know about?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
Have you cut your recons plastic?if so cpild you send me a pic?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
what were you planing on cuttin off?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
Oh,i was thinking of cuting the front to make it look like a 250r
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
would i have to cut the plastic?and would the front move around? Because when i took off the front rack the front plastic whould shaske from let to right and up and down
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
did you leave the rack on?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
And if i ever wanted to put the headlights back on could i ? Or could i just relocate the headlights? And do you have any pics? And you "swear it's a dead on replica" of a 300ex?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
could you post a pic?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
well hurry up on those pics i want to see somehave you found a good exhaust yet?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
hHey go to www.putfile.com and post your pics there and give me a link back to your pics on putfile. You are going to need to register but its free and safe. like here go to http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=4/11221115473.jpg&s=x402 to see a pic of me.How do you like that supertrapp? Any big powergains?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
did you have to rejet?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
does it go any faster?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
So all you did was add a exhaust and jet it and it goes faster than a 250ex?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
Oh,what type of tires are you running? And have you uploadd your pics yet?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
on the maxxis razrs are those on stock rims?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
could i make my on support brakets?I saw a cool sixpack rack on a 250ex and thpought it would look good on my recon?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
sorry about that last post thought i was talking to another guy
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
the Mud Lites are awsome!!They hook up good in all type of terrian.Only down side is that you cant powerslide in dry dirt."or at least its very hard to " now with those i can climb hills that i never would have thought possible.and the traction in the mud is unbelivable.i really havent noticed any weight gain from the tires.but then i really dont jump alot.I orders some new front tires.

to tell you the truth,i really dont know about the jet kit,my guess wold be is that he put it in wrong take it to a dealer and tell them to look at it.do you have gators on all four rims??how does it pull them??also with the jet kit and the k and n you are going to want to run a aftermarket pipe,i would get the fmf powerline,i have hear bad things about the mega max 2 if your in to going real deep in to water and mud ,but if your not in to mud bogging get the mega max.first off what type of riding do you do?if your in to just muddin get the lift, but if your in to any other sport that has turns and hil DONT get the lift.i really woulnt get the wheel spacers becasue it handles fine right now.
got any more pics???????looks nice
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
dude that looks sweet, how does it pull those gators???and are you trying to make it in to a mudder or a sport quad?
Posted by: hillclimbingrecon
i bet that 90 is easy to wheelie just lean back!!LOL

i just wanted to ask a question about the dynojet kit. i got my uncle to install it, and after he did, it just doesnt seem right, the acceleration seems different. got any ideas?
plus i want to mod my recon just like yall.
here is a pic of my baby.
