I thought the 2 stroke limit was 265cc??? I havent raced one since the dawn of time so forgive me if I'm off the ball.

I would start off in the C class, especially for MX. Try to get some practice on a track before race day, it takes a lot of getting used to. I never did, so I stick with flat ground.

A is Pro, B is middle, and C is amateur. For MX, a Raptor 700 will be in the Open class, 4 strokes with more than 450cc and 2 strokes with more than 330cc (I think).

First off, where are you racing at? You are not far from me and I race bikes around here, and a lot of the tracks around here have different rules. All the AMA tracks are the same rules tho.

Some A, B, and C classes are all "open". Which means you can run what ever you want. But if they don't say open next to that class, then it is 450cc and below for 4-strokes. Then you will have to run the plain jane open class.

Some tracks have a stock quad class, and if all you have is a pipe you can run that with your rappy, Id recommend this class for a beginner, well this or if there is an open "C" class.

Your smart about staying out of the 30+ classes if you want to be competitive, these guys are "usually" really fast, bike or quads.

Maddog, Im all most positive the 2-stroke limit still is 265cc.

Hi everyone, this is my first post in this section. I am wanting to enter a local race, and I'm totally lost on this class structure thing. I am an experienced trail rider, but I have never raced in a structured event, for that matter i've never even been on a race track with a quad, but I was wanting to give it a go and see what it's like. I've been reading AMA rules, and can't find the answer. My question is what is a "4 stroke B", and a "4 stroke C" class, and can I ride my raptor 700 in them? I know I can enter the "30+" class, but I'm gonna get killed by the guys who have been racing forever, and wanted to know if these are more of beginner classes. I would really appreciate any advisement that you all could give. Thanks in advance. -- D.

Is there a cc limitation in the 4 stroke C class?

no there isnt, if i were you id ride the class firts, but if your use to just rails id be practicing on different tracks to judge the jumps and whoops, most track only have sertain dates and times to practice so id check into that, and the after practing different courses the go at it
