You have just seen a good example of a dirt bike rider not liking atv's. You should of asked for your money back, saying that you were going justa as fast as some of the other riders. I don't think that they would give you your money back. but it doesn't hurt to ask is a polite manor.

I must be one stupid SOB! I thought practice night was exactly that.
They definitly should split bikes/quads/minis/etc.
DON'T play their game of go faster! You will get hurt. Do just what you have been doing,,LEARNING!! When you have learned more, you will be going faster.
Another lamo "bike or nothing guy" I'd say.
Good luck and have fun!!

They can be real jerks down there sometimes...don't let em get you down...at least the lady in the booth didn't eat you!!

You know what I mean

Come by the shop and we'll go practice on the creek

there is a secondary track down at Marysville...did they suggest that?

Its great for practice...

Its all about having fun so keep it up

I'll go down with ya...
just to remind you cycleland is a much different track

Thats me!
I ride as much as I can...havn't ridden much in past months
I helping a buddy who just started racing and we ride together whenever he wants to get better
I'll be riding tonight on "mud creek"

amen!
I love riding with the bikes!
They make you push harder

The "shad pad" as it was known closed to open riding when Scott Davis took it over...since then he has built an awesome track, however quads and bikes can't practice together there...rumor has it that he is building a quad track
check it out at e-street mx

that is total bs. I can't believe they would do that, then again, the flagger probably is a dirtbike rider, and you are in Cali.

still. I practice at a track where on average, I am one of 5 or 6 quads compared to 15-20 dirtbikes on an average Sunday or Saturday. I have never been told to leave the track. Then again, most of the time I'm passing dirtbikes and rarely get passed by another quad. But I would never ask for one of the little dirtbike riders to leave. that's just wrong.

apparently no one ever taught them to share.

NO ! They should'nt split us up!!
That is the reason The ATV tracks are crap! We need to make a presence. The minute the ATV's and the dirt bikes get split up the ATV track turns to crap. It sounds like you just need a little more experience. I ride that track and there are a lot of slower bikes. Either this guy was really an as-, or you had to be going very slow. However there was the round #2 race on saturday which brings out more riders and faster riders also. That is a great track don't give up on it yet. It is a bit of a drive for you but I like to go to Mammoth Bar ohv to train. They groom the track every week, There are really any jumps but you can haul on that track and it will give you the experience you need. This will help! let me Know, when Maybe I will go with you.

And also if you are a slower rider it is VERY important that you pick your line and stay in it. In other words If you are riding the inside line stay in the inside line. same for the outside line. It is dangerous if a slow rider is all over the track and being unpredictable.

What I don't understand is why didn't they break you guys up? I understand why they didn't want you on the track with the fast guys, that is dangerous, but I don't understand why they didn't have like a "beginner" practice.BR>
Around here their is not that many tracks that quads are allowed on, but the ones that are usually have something like this.

Rotating 20 minute sessions of....
-quads
-little kids on bikes
-C&D class bikes
-A&B class bikes

I think putting beginners with fast guys scare away potential riders/racers. I know before I ever raced MX me and my friends went to practice and they thru us in with A&B riders. They ran all over us and we couldn't even get in a line, honestly it was scary.BR>
It scared my friends out of racing that next weekend, I still went and when I got thrown in with C&D riders for practice my lap times were literally twice as fast.

SVTPETE, don't let idiot track operators ruin it for ya. Sounds like a great idea to go with your experienced bud, Im sure that will make all the difference in the world. A little tip for ya, don't get out of peoples way, hold your line and they will get around ya. If you don't hold your line it ticks a lot of fast guys off, so don't get out of their way. I used to when I started and they jumped my sh!t a little.

crap like that makes me sick, hearing your story makes me want to load my dozer up and come to ca to plow that track down. this is a fact, some people loose their memory when dealing with slower riders. they tend to forget that they did not come out of their mother riding fast. there is a track in memphis that we ride at. yes there are mostly dirtbikes there, i would say 6 to 1 ratio, but the owner divides everyone up for 15min practice sessons. kids, teen to adult dirtbikes, and then quads. if you go back you might want to suggest this idea, it seems to work great here in memphis.

That sounds pretty frustrating SVTPETE, I dont understand why they would put quads and bikes on the same track at the same time. I also dont understand the "all skill levels at the same time practices" That is extremely common out here in ca and IMO it compares with putting a kid in a go kart out on the Indy 500 coures with indy cars. It amazes me that more people arent hurt than are. I think your plan to practice with a fast friend is a great idea. You can learn a lot by following some one whos faster. You dont learn much from being constantly passed. And yes it would piss me off big time.

Last tuesday I went to the nearest MX track to practice in Marysville CA. I had a blast. I am trying to prepare for my first MX race on sep 25 at cycleland speedway in Chico. Since I cannot practice at Cycleland I have to go to Marysville every tues thurs nights to practice. Any way went last tues and had fun. There were lots of fast bikes and the track was very crowded but i got a great workout and learned a lot. I have never jumped my quad before and this was good experiance. Anyway I went back this tues(tonight) and was going a lot faster. The track was a little less crowded and I was getting better lap times by about 9 seconds. I was getting further on the jumps but still not clearing the biggest tables. I was about 10 laps into it when one of the track officials waves a yellow flag at me. He pulls me to the side and says I have to leave because I am going too slow. Addmitantly, I was getting passed by a lot of dirt bikes and other quads, yet I had also passed 4 other dirt bikes while being out there. I argued and asked what it would take for me to be on the track. They told me I would have to clear all the jumps, and that there was an umcoming race and too many bikes were too fast for me to ride out there. Also no one else got kicked off the track that night for going too slow. Needless to say I was pretty frustrated. I am new to quads and new to the sport. I used to race stand up jet skiis and had never been kicked off a track. I do not know how or where I can properly prepare for an upcoming race when the only mx track available I get kicked off of. Does anyone know where I can get some practice in or should I go back next tues and try again. I live over an hour from the track and it sucks to get the boot after ten laps. Sorry bout the long post just had to vent.

I did ask for my money back and they were happy to give it to me. It still didn't replace the 30 bucks I spent for gas but whatever. I just thought the whole thing was BS

Posted by: SVTPETE

They didn't break us up because I was the only beginner quad out ther. There were five or six other quads but all the riders were really fast and had totally set up race bikes. I asked what the best time to come back were or if there was designated times for beginnersand the track owner said"not really". They suggested I practice on a seperate dirt track behind the real track but it was a joke. It reminded me of a fire road with two one foot lips for jumping. What can ya do. I am going to go back there next tues and ride with a guy who used to race quads in pro class in the early nineties. I am hoping he can help me out to get faster and I will not have this problem any more. What else can I do? Thanks for the replies though they do make me feel a little better.

I was not going balls out. My quad is much faster bike than I can handle on an MX track. In the corners and straights I can fly. On the jumps is where I am tentative. Jasin, are you the guy that just started working at Glende Polaris. If you are you are the dude that used to work at yamaha that convinced me to try out some racing. I would love to go ride with ya. Let me know when and I will hit you up. Thanks for all the advice from everyone, and I will try my damndest not to get kicked off on tues.

I have heard of mud creek but dont know where it is. I work tonight till 2am but am down to go ride anytime after 6 this weekend.

Well damn I went to Argile mx track and had a blast! I got alot faster in the turns and became a lot more confident on the jumps. I am headed to Marysville thurs and we'll see if I improved enough not to get kicked off! BTW What happened to the other Marysville track, its always closed?

Posted by: SVTPETE

I hit up Marsville on thurs night and it was still pretty crowded. I however did not get the boot and actually passed a lot of dirt bikes and a couple of other quads tonight. I think I am pretty decent in the turns but the jumps I am still getting passed. I had a lot of fun though and will be racin on Sunday at cycleland. Have a good weekend all!

Well, were you totally going balls out? Ive always wanted to go on a track with my Z, but Ive never made it. I do really wonder if my quad would keep up if I went hard enough. But that is totally not fair, if that ever happened to me I would have lost it. I give you credit for not going in there and running over some dirtbikes.
