It would be difficult if not impossible to make a flat statement regarding shift points with so many variables like soil conditions, terrain, length of straights, turns, jumps, etc.
As a general rule most 4 strokes are most efficient with short shifting techniques as opposed to winding them out such as is done with 2 strokes in order to keep them (2strokes) on the pipe.With broader power bands, the 4 strokes can utilize their torque advantage with shorter shifts, thus avoiding valve float and loss of acceleration.If you are running taller gearing you can, of course, wind it out a little more than with stock gearing.

I USED TO OWN A 250X AND WOULD ROOST A BLASTER THE BLASTERS TOP SPEED IS 50 MPH THE 250X IS AROUND 57 AND THE WARRIOR IS 60 OR SO

I think the Blaster will give you a run for the money. I have drag raced a few Warriors, and was nearly even with them. The 400EX can pull a few lengths. I can beat a 250X by a few lenghts too. As far as I know the other bikes were stock as was mine. Don't underestimate the little bike. People put them down put in a straight line they ARE fast. 4-Wheel ATV action did a drag race, the Blasters time was 12.07 seconds, the Warriors was 11.57. This margin is small enough that rider will be the deciding factor.

Must have been a messed up Blaster in need of a rebuild. Mine ran 61, and outran the 250X next to me by about 3mph (estimating here). Who cares though, after 2 years of riding and 4000+ miles I have only had the chance to do one top speed run.

If you are racing a blaster and you have decent power with your Warrior you really shouldn't need to shift that much. I don't have much experience riding 4strokes but I read a lot and it seems that they have enough torque to pretty much start in any gear and stay that way. Blasters although peppy little two strokes are not that "fast" for drag racing. Your competitor may have an advantage in many places though. You need to find a spot where traction is really a problem, that way he won't hook up. Both machines actually have about the same top end , depending on your gearing of course so stretching out the race probably won't help. No one can actually tell you when to shift that is for sure. If I had to ask that question I would get off the computer and be outside practicing!

shift when you feel the motor is going to blow but right before it run your motor hard and let it get relly wound up before you shift

Over the weekend I am going to be racing a 97stock Blaster and I know I can win but I wanna rub it in his face reall good cause he brags it up alot. I will be driving a 98 Warrior With a FmF Mega Max 2 pipe on it. And I wanna know when the perfect time to shift is to get the most out of the gears.
