cause it looks cool
less wind resistance at 80mph

Easier to line up the front wheels around or over an obstacle, Much less wind resistance jumping and going over 65mph, saves weight, IMO looks better, If needed, easier to work on quad without taking plastic off.

Thats the DVX, i wish all quads could do that.

As far as drag racing is corcerned in the 1/8 th mile I picked up almost a tenth on the ET and 1 mph, with only the front fenders cut.

BTW, I think it is your 250x that is keeping you from going faster, not resistance. j/k........lol

They look cool. And less air residance.

All of the above...plus on muddy tracks, the mud doesn't pack up on the front fenders and weigh the front of the quad down. Mud weight+long race=arm pump and rider fatigue...img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0"> OOHH...and another reason...I noticed that when I was racing MX, if I hit a head-wind coming off a table-top..stock fenders act like parachutes and lift the front end...

So you can roost yourself...... I put mine back on after the guy who had it before me chopped my stock ones. Practical reasons are supposed to be wind(mx), and less weight from mud build-up, like others have said. I don't race mx, and don't care about mud build up on the fenders. Better the fenders than mud build up on me.

im pretty sure the 450r does too

i find it easier to spot last minute passing lines, and my landing off jumps, i have noticed wind resistance, and mud build up, but i have never roosted myself.

What is the advantage to the race cut front fenders?
Posted by: z250freak
save a little wieght and so they get more muddy
Posted by: gearhead17
I'm tired about people telling me that it helps performance. No one can really back that up. However I think everyone will agree that they look cooler when cut RIGHT.
Posted by: gearhead17
It makes a world of a difference. Who wants huge elephant ears on the front of their quad?

Took me a while to realize that. I just bought a cr250 and I cant stand to ride my 250x. I keep waiting for a power hit but it never comes!

u can see ur front tires and get hit in the face with rocks
Posted by: WhiteBros440EX
especially on the 250x of yours, the stock fenders were wide and round my friend cut them and it look a lot cooler

for looks, saves weight for mud packing up in fenders, and on very big jumps when coming down you can fill the front end floating in the air.
Posted by: fmxc
so you can see where your tires are in realation ship to rocks and tough tererian, but if your gonna be gettin into mud or ridin through a pasture with cows keep full fenders
Posted by: 300racer
doesnt the 450r have removable race cut fender that just pop off and on
