its more like a harescramble, it includes varing terrains desert, XC, woods, & some MX... the quad races this year are suposed to be 1.5 hours long. the loops can vary in length from 5-12 miles, & almost all of them contain a MX section. as for setup i'm going to run my gasgas pretty much stock, with a change of front wheels to 4+1 & try to soften up my suspension. from talking to some of the guys at washougal, one was running 52" wide, & had no problems. but others had a tough time with wide quads at milford, CA.... conditions can vary- if conditions get muddy, be prepared... from reports i read, many of the western races did this year.... price, UT even had some snow. IMO, WORCS is shaping up to become the GNCC of the west...

can i sandbag too??? i know all of you are probly faster than me... if you run B or A class locally you should be in the same classes...
i detest sanbaggers, i at least want a fighting chance at getting a trophy. any C class rider finishing in the top 30% overall is sandbagging, and we all know it.
so what's the difference between a harescramble & a GP? from what i understand, it's just the name... they are basically the same.

from what i can tell, the 04 ATV classes are as follows:
Pro
Pro-production
Vet (30+)A, B & C,
40+
sport (16-29 yrs)
4-stroke production A, B & C
Open A, B & C
unclassified
utility.
i don't know about pre-registration, i think they do.
they will run the slower classes on saturday & faster ones one sunday... however, the "unclassified" class, which runs saturday, allows anyone racing sunday... pro, A, B, etc. to pre-run the course

Washougal has been dropped, longview, WA now takes its place on the schedule. i don't know anything about the track other than it is a few miles farther north on I-5...

'04 Rules are now posted on the WORCS website.
i just got this email from the in response to some questions i had about the WORCS....
my questions:
>i'm a local ATV rider & racer, 30 years old, i Ride a 2003 Gas-Gas Hp-300
> ATV and want to attend some of the WORCS races this coming year. locally, i
> usualy race 2-stroke, open, or amature class,(there is no A, B or C) so i'm
> not sure what class to run in.
> i noticed there is no open C ATV class, but there is a Vet C... am i
> confused?
> I am curious why the production classes are limited to 4-strokes? my ATV is
> a current production machine, but a 2-stroke.
reply:
"A is expert/intermediate level rider, B is amateur/junior level, and C is
beginner/novice riders. You will be eligible to ride the production classes
as it is not limited to 4-strokes, just center cases and frame must be stock,
no motor size limitations. You could rider production C or Vet C if you are
a beginner. If you are a B rider, you could ride Vet B on saturday and
production or Open B on Sunday. Saturday races are 45 minutes, sunday 75
minutes. Entry fees are non pro $50, and gate fees vary from facility to
facility ranging from $5 to
i'm still not sure what class to run....

thanks for bringing this thread back up to the top!
so who all is planning on being at mesquite???
sand-racer
i've got a craving to go riding too, but my quad's apart to do maintenance & my shocks are at MX-tech in PA. i won't have them back for about a week. i should have the 10-11th off(not sure about between now& then)... i was thinking of going to richland (horn rapids ORV) to dial in the shocks a little... but am open to other areas. also, go check out the "puget sound area riders" thread in the 'places to ride' forum.... go to the last few pages, chime in & if we can't get together to ride, maybe you can join some of them.... it's a BIG group, trust me!

Are they going to run the series on the east this year? I was at the Florida race, there were only about 20 racers there.
Posted by: Quadracer33
We'll be there to almost all of the West Coast ones. Honeylake was pretty rough going through the creek bed, anybody new to WORCS invest in some skid plates and good mud tires.
Posted by: Quadracer33
I think after lap 2, I was just thinking to myself, If I can just finish without any broken bones or quad parts it will be a good day. I was watching guys infront of me trying the Bonzi approach, which was entertaining.

Ill be at a few of these as well. one is in my home town( PAyette Idaho) . Ill race in the C class. Now I need to figure out what tires to run on this track in Payette, its a power robber due to ALOT of sand and my 400ex SHOULD have motor mods by then but when I rode it last, I had on my tamers... OMG.....they sucked soooooo bad!!!! How are those Kenda Claws for a miture of sand, dry pack and wet clay? Im yet to see a tire work great on our dirt out here in Idaho Except the Razrs and they will suck on this track too.... Tina

http://www.longviewmx.com/Grizzly-aerial-view.htm I am sure that the WORCS lay out will be using just as much land.
I was thinking of doing 4 stroke Production C class
I seen three 300 Gas Gas's out at Woodland Sunday and one spanked everyone. So I will stay in the 4 stroke class LOL.
And for any one that was thinking of running in the women&39;s class for a better chance good luck beating Kate Duncan!!!
She is a local that races the WORCS series and makes most guys look like chumps. She raced in the C class for 2003 and beat most B riders and Maxxis tires now sponsor her for 2004.
I met here in Cali this summer and you are right! She is very fast!!!! Glad to hear Maxxis is sponsoring her!! Way to Go Katie! Anyone know her website addy, I need to get in touch with her for some races here in Idaho......... Tina

Hi dual-sporter,
LokiDS650 and I have been to Longview. The track is located in the industrial area of Longview, so they don't have to worry about pissing off the neighbors. They have about 11 miles of cross-country trails and a huge mx track (very quad friendly track). I really liked the track but if it rains down there, it will be very slick, the ground is mostly clay and gets real messy. That stuff will stick to you like tar.
BTW, congrats on the 4th over-all at OPMC!
As far as the track layout goes, there are a couple of good tabletops, the whoops aren't to bad, and they had a step-up that was pretty fun, nothing to complicated. The mx track itself is about twice the size of Pacific Raceways. The trails that I road were single wide, but there was plenty of opportunities to pass and were fairly smooth. You can really haul a$$ in some parts.
Loki and I were seriously thinking about going down there this Saturday to practice, but it's supposed to rain all week, and we are still scraping clay off our quads from a month ago, so I don't think it's going to happen.

I hope to make all the west ones but i still haven't decided which divisions/class to run. Probably the c since I have never rode them.
Posted by: phildampier
Sandbag...me never..i hated sandbaggers as a beginner.. I was just going by the only racer I know that raced worcs... But the c class is actually beg/nov. I probably will go b though.

What the hell happened to the one they had scheduled for phoenix in January?? Did they delete it altogether????

i'll be running the wesy coast races on my '04 YFZ450

The Schedule almost conflicts with the ITP quadcross for me

What is the rundown on the classes? I'd like to hit Washougal and Goldendale at least. Is there going to be pre-entry?
