You could look for a 250r. It might take a while to find one in good condition, but its well worth the wait.

It wouldnt be worth it to put a bigger motor in there. Your best bet would be to buy it and ride it untill you get enough money to sell it and buy a 250r or whatever you want.

lt250r91,
Didn't you say that you saw a GasGas at one of the recent GNCC races? I thought I saw a post of that somewhere... I have been meaning to ask how it finished and if you got a chance to get a close up look on it...

Motocross or woods?
Used quad = Honda 250r
New quad = 400ex, Ltz400, Kfx400, Cannondale, or Wild Hp 300 (2 are race ready quads little to no extra parts needed).
Which quad depends on riding style and type of racing. I see you used to have a quadracer. If you like the 2-stroke preformance over the 4-stroke go with the the 250r, GasGas 300, or even the cannondale. These are the three I would reccomend for racing do to the fact I like and race 2-strokes myself. I've owned 3 suzuki 250r (2-86's & 91). I currently have a 02 speed and am in the process of getting a GasGas (just waiting on it to show up).
As for parts the 250r or 400ex has more aftermarket parts than any of the others. But why do you need aftermarket stuff if they are biult race read? It just depends on how much you want to spend on a quad.
If interested in the GasGas here is a link to the info I have on it Wild Hp 300

No, I wish I saw one. Another member on hear ran into me at the Last Gncc and we talked about the quad. He was asking if that was me he was talking to. I might have also said that I was planning on taking one to a national if I got it in time.
I talked to me dealer monday about the status on the quad and was told that they are on a boat making there way to the US now. They are suppose to arrived late this week early next week. The dealer told me she would call me and let me know 2 days in advance when they will get the quad. This is to let me get a loan signed and plan on taking time of work to go and get the machine. So as soon as I get the call I'll be posting it on here. As far as I know the dealer will have one other quad that hasn't been sold yet.
I was hoping to have the quad tomorrow so I could take it to Ironman, but no call from the dealer yet, so I'm hoping to have it for next weekend. Haven't decided if I'm going to go to a local team race and race it next weekend or if I'll stay home and trail ride. This is if I get the machine.

The GasGas won't be easy to find but should be quite a wild ride if it has the power that it claims. Handling... who knows.
The Cannondale's are awesome quads. They do require the owner to be more involved with the quad (not riding forever w/o changin the oil a lot, changing the fuel filter on a regular basis) but you say you're a racer, so I imagine that wouldn't be a problem for you. It handles VERY good and feels very light in the air. You can buy the base model for around $6,500 and buy cams, pipe, remap, and trinity can do the porting and polishing, and you'll have a motor that a your basic 440ex wouldn't have a chance in hell against (power/speed). You could build the 400ex to be as fast as the Cannondale (w/ the things I just listed) but the EX would be so far from reliable that it would just be embarrassing.
The Z/KFX 400 are awesome quads too. It may take a little to get it up to the power and speed of the Cannondales, but it can do it and still be plenty reliable. They are also cheaper, handle just as good, and I HEAR they feel just as light, but I don't know since I haven't jumped one before. The Z and KFX would be awesome choices as well.
The only one's I would even consider are the C-dales or the Kfx400's (I like the green more . This is only MY opinion and what I've seen, so if someone gets mad about what I said, remember, I'm NEVER wrong!
