Most of the time to be classified as utility, it must have had racks from the factory. Bikes such as the Timberwolf are also included since front/rear racks were optional. This class is usually limited to stock atv's. They made me run in AM class instead of utility on my 4X4 350 polaris and it still has the racks on it. They said the porting, pipe, carb, reed cage, filter, race gas, head shaved, etc was an unfair advantage. Go figure.

It also depends on what type of racing and what series you are running. In the GNCCs, to run stock or modified utility, it must be shaft drive. If it is chain drive like a Scrambler, you must run in the Unlimited Utility class. To qualify as a utility, the quad must come with racks and/or an automatic tranny. Hence, a Wolverine qualifies since it has racks (even though it is manual shift) and the Scrambler qualifies also since it is auto tranny even though it does not come with racks.
