Little Sandy Raceway will be having the 2002 ATV Spring Nationals on Memorial Day weekend. Open bracket is expected to pay $5000 for 1st place if there are 150 entries. For more information go to Little Sandy Raceway. For anyone interested in drag racing in Indiana check out Wolfe Brothers Racing and in Ohio check out Dirt Country. Dirt Country hasn't updated their site since last fall, but hopefully they will soon.

I believe that they are still working out the details of additional classes. They have been running races for a while, but this will be the first big ATV event that they have put together. Jim, the owner of Little Sandy, has his number on his site under track information. If you would like to offer any advice I'm sure he would be happy to hear from you. He seems very open to suggestions.

DirtDragRacer,

I appreciate the feedback. I haven't ever been there, but some friends of mine have and they had the same comment. I think they said "things are not quite on the up and up." I would be very leary of ever racing there.

There are 300 ft sand drags in Bonne Terre Mo (Big River Sand Drags) and it is bracket racing (all on time). J & J Motorsports in Poplar Bluff, MO, put on a dirt drag in Poplar Bluff a couple times a year. However, this track is very short, and the races do not last long at all. I think to run all 13 classes only took 2 hours.

I would appreciate any information about the drags in Marked Tree. I think it would be a 2 1/2 hour drive for me, but my friends and I might would make the trip if you thought it were worth our time.

You guys are luck. I Michigan there is two tracks as far as I know, Milan SanDrags (at Milan Dragway) which I regualarly race at and Mears Sanddrags at Silverlake. I am really bummed because Milan Sand Drags has a talk of being closed next season due to low turnout. Well the reason there is no turnout is because they don't advetise and doing hardly payout. Also it was only running twice a month. Now I have also raced on the pavment but they will only alow quads in time trials along with snowmobiles. I asked why they won't let you bracket race with the bikes and their excuse is that the quads are not street legal. Well, hell some of the bikes are street legal either. Anyway, if anyone knows of other tracks in MI of OH let me know. I wish there was a site that had all forms of ATV Drag Racingl with all known tracks listed.

Hey DirtDragRacer, you may already know about it but just incase you don't..NEA Raceway located in Marked Tree Arkansas right off of Hwy 63 is supposed to have sand drags starting next year. Doug laid out the strip this passed season and we had lots of fun dragging just for the fun of it. There werent any real races just guys playing around. He's supposed to have every thing up and going next year as far as I know. As far as big money races is concerned you'll have to talk to him. I do know that he gave good money and every thing for the MX and Mud racing this passed season, and said that the MX series points winner next year will get a new S10 truck!! The phone # to the track is (870) 358-RACE. Let me know if you cant get ahold of him because he's not at the track as offten as he was during the season. Hope to see you there!!

Posted by: CdaleRacer

DirtDragRacer, I dont think Doug has been out at the track any. Its almost completly under water. I will hopefully see him at church Sunday and find out all I can o.k.

DritDragRacer what do you have that you race?
I race at the Atoka track , and I've been to Grain Valley once. Sure wish they would change the 'dial in' policy at Grain Valley (once you dial in that is the dial in you use for that entire race). Private message me when you plan to hit a race at Atoka ,I would like to meet you.
I deffinatly will be going to the next mega bucks race event , I couldn't make the one last year.
Be sure to post it here when there is a deffinate date for it , thanks.

I was actually wondering how many folks actually drag race quads. It is very popular in our area and I was wondering if there were other places we could travel to to drag race.

We are all member's of the ATVDRA ( http://atvdra.winkys.com ) and that is seeming to help us get some recognition and big money races (Mega bucks events). If anyone knows of other places to drag race let me know, we have about 20 bikes here locally that will travel to races.

Thanks
Dirt

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

nope I hadn't heard they were doing drag racing over there. We race down at spring hill track (http://www.springhilltrack.com) I'll try and get in touch with the guy.

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

Yeah we've run there. Don't particular like their setup. It's real "homer" friendly if you know what I mean.

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

you might want to check out Spring Hill Track they are a track that is about 30 miles southeast of Memphis, TN. and they run 300ft drag races. They run bracket classes and heads up classes. They are going to run another Mega Bucks Event the first part of 2002.

You should really check out this link about the one they had this year (2001)

Haven't been able to get in touch with the guy from the track over near Marked Tree. If anyone can help let me know. Thanks

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

We run every weekend. Same thing, professional lights, time slips and good money. We run for money on our regular Saturday night program at our local track than the asphalt drag bike's here locally run for. We've had a few of those guys actually start running with us cause it's better money.

I'll probably make a few races in Atoka, OK. this year, a couple in Grain Valley, MO. and a couple in Bonne Terre, MO..... I'd like to try and make it out to Laughlin NV. too.... hopefully can make that trip.

Please if you hear any thing from NEA track let me know... email me direct and I'll be glad to give you my number so I can talk to whoever over there is interested.

Thanks

We had a couple of guys come down here from Michigan last year and run in our 4th of July Mega Bucks race. They were saying they wished they had some place that raced every weekend like we do. Heck our regular Saturday night program pays over $500 to win and we usually pay 3 places. Plus we run some heads up classes our Super Pro class and sometimes we even run a Gambler's race if anyone is in the mood that night.

Hope you guys check out the Mega Bucks race it was great last year and should be bigger and better this year. The guy who won last year pocketed over $5000 for the weekend in winning's. He had a good weekend of racing... to say the least... *hahaha*

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

Hey folks just as a quick note, be watching for the mega bucks race flyer in Dirt Wheels sometime in April or March. Hopefully this will bring in a few extra bikes.. (*laughing*)

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

I race a Suzuki GS1000 (l166cc) 3 wheeler with nitrous. It runs in the low 4's on our track and is capable of some 3.80's I fill pretty sure with the right gearing.

The race date is definate. June 14 - 16 2002 is the dates. The flyer is up and posted with the class information and what the payout's going to be.

Yeah we allow you to change your dial-in in between rounds if you want at our normal races. The Mega Bucks we only allow it when you lose. It's just to much of a paper work nightmare to keep up with if you could change it each round....

That's the same weekend as the big race in Atoka OK. isn't it?

How many places are they going to pay out? Do you have any entry fee information etc on their race? Do they have a flyer that you can post or anything?

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

Nevermind I found the flyer on line......Here it is

They are only going to pay 1st through 5th? And there are no other classes being run? interesting......

Gonna be tough to compete with Atoka, OK that weekend...... They may want to consider an alternate weekend just as a thought...... You might want to let whoever is running it know about the conflict in scheduling.....

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

American Sand Drag Association 2002 Schedule Click Here

This is the dates that are going to be hard to compete against for folks setting up races. I'd suggest trying to go on weekends when they don't have national events...... Just as a suggestion.

For anyone who knows about Links to sites that deal with ATV Drag Racing there is a new website that is trying to get a good list. If you go to http://www.atvdra.cc and click on weblinks you can add links there. I think they are taking personal, business, and track links. So anyone who wants to add it please feel free.

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

Well folks.... keep your eyes open in the April issue of Dirt Wheels for the advertisement for the Mega Bucks Race...... I'd like to hear from anyone who reads it and see what they think of it.

Thanks

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

Actually plan on attending their race in May.

I wish that race and the Grayson KY race didn't interfer with each other but they do so ......

Have to make a choice....... and the Atoka race is a big deal so I'm gonna try and make that one.

Posted by: DirtDragRacer

It's great to see other folks adding their sites to this conversation. I know the ATVDRA is planning on bringing a Mega Bucks Race to the Arizona area very soon. Been talking to several track owner's about an event on the west coast.

In the Northeast on the other hand, it's been hard to get any tracks up there to talk to us. Would love to bring them in so that the ATV drag racers up there could run for some big bucks instead of trophy's.

Hopefully we can annouce very soon some plans for Mega Bucks Races in some other area's of the country. Look forward to seeing you ALL at the races!

FYI it looks like the ATVDRA is going to have a 1/8 mile asphalt race later in the summer. Details as far as entry fee and payout are all posted on their website.

I don't think they have worked out where it's going to be yet. But they are definately planning something.

I have been sand draggin here in arizona, Last year we ran up in Holbrook, Az with northern arizona motorsports association (Namsa). We have also been doing the ASDA sand drags out of Blythe (ASDA website). And now I am running with Fast Track Racing just outside of Phoenix, Az. Sand dragging is becoming more and more popular each year. With the Sierra Club tring to close more and more land each year rider are having to find ways to continue riding.

Visit my website at mwsandracing.com to see some of the drags and events around state of Arizona.
