I want to start a project quad that could be used for racing. I am looking to start with the bottom end of a 250r motor and get a new cylinder for it. Does anyone know where I can get a bottom end? I heard that Honda still sells it, if that's the case how do you contact Honda about buying one?
I would not mind having to buying the whole engine just for the bottom end. Also if anyone has any good alternatives to getting a good engine for a project quad (maybe a motorcycle engine), let me know.
I am considering a 250r-based engine over a motorcycle engine because of the counter balancer and the sixth gear.
Thanks for any help / advise you can offer.

Thanks, I will look tonight. I've also found a place on the web (www.servicehonda.com) they are very expensive but the engines are brand new so its understandable.
Any other thoughts are welcome.

Go to www.eastcoastatv.com You can buy brand new 250r motors from them. There are, however expensive but still they are available. It sounds like a sweet project quad that you want to build. I want to do the same thing except it is way to expensive to build a custom 250r. Good luck!!!

I've also heard of guys buying ATC 250R's just for the motor. I guess they are the same motor. I don't know this for sure, I don't have any experience with it myself.

Check out Service Honda, they make the Aluminum frame CR500, and sell all the CR250 motors. AJ Wagoneer is the man there, tell him John Curea sent you.
Good Luck
