You can find information on "ATV-Only" races at AMA's website.
Go to http://ama-cycle.org/index.asp and go to local events in the right lower corner. From there you can choose your district and events you want to race at eg. Harescrambles, Motocross, etc. I know they ran a BUDDY series which was a 3-hour team race for quads which were all fairly local here in eastern Ohio. You can also find race schedules for the Competition riders of America at http://www.alltel.net/~racecra/which includes quad racing.
Hope this helps.

I believe that there are such races around the area. They may be assocaited with AMA/ ATVA. There are several AMA/ATVA tracks in the Canton area and one or two up around the Chagrin Falls, Chesterland area. The CRA, Competion Riders of America would not even consider it becuase bike bring in over 99% of the income that keeps them up and running. I hear ya it would be nice to race on a track thats not rutted out and you can actually rail a corner. If any of you have ever raced at Ohio International Raceway you know what im talking about.

Kinda late replying.. I am also interested in your ideas. I would like to start racing this upcoming season.. Anything I can do to help just let me know. As far as tracks in chesterland and chagrin falls, I do alot of work in that area and have never heard of any tracks there. The closet one that I know of is dirtworld out in dorsett. Any more info on these tracks would be appreciated. Again hope I can help in some way.

You might want to see what the AMA/ATVA will do in your area. The AMA has sanctioned a quad only series in the Virginia and North Carolina area. It is a promising schedule with 4 MX and 4 TT races. If the series goes well I have been told by one of the promoters that they will definetely be putting together a spring and summer series to compliment the National races.

So maybe you talk to a local track owner/promoter who has AMA ties and see what happens. Good luck I know that Ohio has a good base of quad racers so it seems like it would be a good market for AMA sanctioning.

I was talking to a few people about maybe making a pitch to some of the regional tracks to have quad only races and maybe start a quad only sanctioned events. Maybe affiliate them with the ATVA or just a maybe just a AMA D-12 quad series. Ideas I have are to seperate the classes some what like nationals, A,B,C and Blaster, Womens, Pro and etc. I just want to see if the support of this would be there or if it would be a waste of time. Let's here some thoughts on this.

I will get back to you when I get a little more info fast400ex16. I want to see what tracks and or santioning body would want to do this. It may only be a few quad only races or it could be a whole series. It is up to the track owners if they will participate. To every one else, I know there are other ohio area riders on here so lets hear your ideas.

Dirtddemon, I haven't heard of these tracks and I'm fairly close to that area. Is it MX or harescrambles? Also is it something new for 2002 or is it something that already exists? Let me know where they are I would like to ride at some of these tracks and possibly race there.

I haven't heard of the american mx series myself. Is that a faircross series or is that an outlaw series that isn't put on by any particular group? Myself I am only familiar with D-12 and a little of the CRA so I fill me in. I agree with gaff. If we can get a big group of people involved our voice will be heard easier. This whole idea came about when I was on another forum with a bunch of ohio mxer's both bike and quad guys. The same thing that repeatedly came up was how each group destroyed the track for the others. With seperate race days this would keep the track nice for each group and you would also get home at a decent time. Not everyone likes to put in a 12-16+ hour day at the track. Plus us quad guys get screwed on classes. You either run 2 or 4 stroke or blaster. That sucks. It isn't fair for people like a mid to lower B rider or C as far as that goes, to have to ride in the same class as Tim Farr or the fast locals like Mark Kendall or Rob Arnold. Yes it makes you a better rider but it sucks getting beat all the time too. In bike classes you wouldn't see Brock Sellards or David Hill racing against B or C riders would you. Well I think I have run on enough, I just wanted to show you guys where I'm coming from. And why the need for seperate races comes from.

That would be cool. I'd be all for that.

Personally, I would love to see a quad only series for d-12. Quads just don't get nearly the opourtunities to practice and race that bikes do.

The AMA sanctions a race in st. clairsville ohio.
I know my brother and a very large body of riders drag race quads in hopedale ohio.
The riders of hopedale, cadiz harrisville, new athens, and adena are a very close group and if you could get them on board I believe you could get some ones attention.
I seen a few groups in louisiana pull together, and I'm happy to say they just recieved $48,000 from hour state to improve just one of our riding areas.
If you all pool together, things will happen.

Good Luck!

Have any of you guys done any racing this year in Ohio? fast400ex16 and I have that is why we are seriously interested in creating a series or some type of riding club. Please try and find out all you can about this and what you are willing to do. As for fast400ex16 and myself, we will talk with our sponsors and see what they say. Thanks.

Hey man i will help u out if you need help. I was thinking of possably starting the same thing, i doubt we could get the atva involved but maby make a d-11 - d-12 state wide series. get back to me and i will try and help cordinate this event by getting sponsors and promotions. or how about this. pick 2 or 3 tracks and do something like honda hills has 4 bikes, make a fri, sat, or sunday night/day series. reply or drop me an email so we can further promote our sport.

i would also like to know were this series is, i have searched all summer for a quad series in ohio and i have found none, i just thought of another idea, if you run the american mx searies u know that there are only 2 classes 4 quads, 2 and 4 stroke, also we are the last people to race, sorry guys but i don't enjoy waiting untill 11:30 at night to do my racing. anyways maby we can talk the american mx people into giving quads more classes like they do the bikes that way they will generate more $. i am thinking of just having practice start at like noon or something like that that way no one will be rushed. i am going to post a new topic of the same title on the board that way more people will see it so please subscribe to that also
