I have to agree with some of your points LT-80. Sure seems to me like they are eliminating the kids. If they would have given an indication to this maybe some of us could have made plans for the future. Just seems they are turning a lot of high dollar mini quads into something that's not worth anything anymore. I am hoping they will make an exception to the cycle engine rule for the mod 90 and mod 70 classes. We will have to just wait and see.

Sorry we jumped the gun Tprender. Can't always believe everything I read yet it shocked me so much I had to get on the defensive immediately. I am sure we will have some time to discusss things at some GNC's this season.

It is not a rule that you cannot use motorcycle engines in 03. It was talked about maybe making it a rule in 03. there is nothing in writing. It was dicussed in a meeting. If the new machines(quads) comeout that we hope come, most of them will or may rule just as good as the YZ and for a hold lot less money. We have a year to talk about if it should become a rule. I like the idea, are we racing and riding true quads or something else?
the engine rule was put in in 92 when nothing was being made or looked like nothing was going to be made, and it was and is true then. Now we are seeing new quads being intrduced, so the rule needs to be changed. Maybe, it will make the factories come out with something?

Well the whiners are finally winning against the TT racing in the nationals! Now there is going to ba a 4stroke pro class on factory machines. No more motorcycle motors in a quad (this will aparently wipe out the 60 & 90cc modified classes) No 90cc superstock class either, but they invented a "non national" 0-50cc class for 6-11 yr olds. Now why come to the nationals, pay a national price, then have your child recieve no national points is beyond me. The way i look at this is, now a youth 12-15 yrs old will not be racing.(i'm expecting them to say: yes there is a no motorcycle motor rule, but thats for the bigger quads, thus another rule that isn't the rule!!
Now ya see the problem with the AMA choosing our (ATVA) president!
SOOOOOOOOO,, join the ATVA this gives you a vote and we need your votes.
After more thought , I do want to explain that Doug Morris (the ATVA president) is doing a good job, no bad words meant directly at him, AND, like most rules there wil be good and bad points and to be honest there is alot of good with the no motorcycle engine rule. I have to believe that they would still have a 90cc mod class but rather than 12+thousand dollar, CR-80 powered beasts, we will have to modify the 90cc machines that are on the market, and that can be good!
