Sounds like some bad luck...and in quad racing, you will have a lot of that. You will spend thousands of dollars to keep your machine going and competitive. Entry fees, gas, and oil will also take its toll on your wallet. Quad racing requires an endless supply of money.
BUT, if you manage to stay in ATV racing, you will gain hundreds of good times, new friends, and you'll soon notice you know more about your quad than anything you ever learned in school.
I'll put hours of work, time, frustration, and money into my quad and sometimes I'll get out to the track and break the damn thing in practice...But that adrenaline rush I get sitting on the starting line, waiting for the gate to drop is what keeps me coming back for more. That and the hope that tonight, this race will be the best night of my life, hanging with my friends, talking about racing, and maybe winning.
Racing is my life...

Well I was(and I stress WAS) very excited about my first season racing until today. Let me first tell you that the day after I bought my 250r last May I cracked the case, there was a $1000. The idiot that I bought it from didnt put a case saver on it. It sat all summer because I didnt have the money to fix it. I finally got it fixed and found out that I was fouling plugs every hour. It only took me about 2 months to figure out the correct jetting(pissed off sarcasm) or so I thought, because now my top end sputters.
I went to my first real practice session today at Hole****(oops) Raceway. I was in the double-double section(or whatever the hell its supposed to be)and as I come out of it the quad stopped, dead!! I figured that if the piston seized I was running to lean and that just gave me an excuse to bore it out. But of course it wasnt that. Oil was running out of the bottom of the engine and after me and my friend CARRIED it off the track I looked underneath the left side. The same case had a huge hole in it. Isnt that just wonderful.
Another thing is that when I bought this quad I was under the impression that it was a national caliber quad, wrong. Not even close. After I drove to new jersey to get it and paid $5000 for it, I had to replace many parts and put alot of time and money into a so called "Race Ready" quad.
I go to college full time and work 20 hours a week, and just putting gas in my tank and food in my stomach is hard enough. No I have to contend with this bulls@#t. Give me a break. Some one please explain how this sport, racing specially, is worth all of the money, time, stress and headaches that comes with it. And while you are doing that I'll be coming up with some fundraising ideas.
P.S. Yes, I am enjoying my little pitty party!!

Yeah I guess you are right about putting in the time and all, but I have absolutely no extra money to spend on this quad. Even if I could afford the parts I dont think that I am ready to tear into a motor. I guess it will have to sit just like it did last summer. This is such BS.
Yes atv88, I still have the Blaster and it is for sale. I dont like taking the chances of riding it and breaking something on it. So its been siting in my basement for 4 months.
I dont know what to do, I might go crazy if I have to wait 3 or 4 weeks to race. I have been preping the damn quad for the last 4 months in anticipation of the race season, and there it all went in one day(or should I say one second).
Anyways thanks for the support guys, I really appreciate. I hate to sound like a cry baby, but I am really sick to stomach over this hole thing.
Thanks again.

If you decide to sell the R let me know! Racing is fun and its $$$. I raced mx bikes for years and now I am getting into xc bikes and quads 4hours of racing in 1day. I got tired of all the sitting around at the mx track plus having to practice 3-4days a week. With xc I will get to race 2hours on bike and 2hours on quad not that I am in any kind of shape yet to do that but I am going to try. I was really into mx and won alot of local series races and was on my way to A class then I said F-it! It does take alot of time, money, and headaches but its fun. I would suggest trying xc you get more riding time for your $$. Dont get me wrong I do miss the track but I love to ride and race and 2 4-6 lap motos doesnt cut it for all the $$$. Get those cases fixed go to e-bay and look and also go get a service manual and do it yourself. Your in school so I am assuming you know how to read and follow directions which is all you need to do with a good service manuel, do it yourself or at least try and I bet you'll be successfull if you get a service manuel and this will save you alot of $$$ in paying some shop to do it. Which in my opinion half the shop machanics dont know what there doing anyway so you should learn and thins will benefit you in many ways. If you need parts and etc.. let me know and I can save you some $$$ I get good prices through the shop I race for!

Sounds like you had a good time. I'm joking!!! What happened you put a hole in it?

sorry to hear about your luck. It will get better. I know about you being in hard times with bills and going to school and that cause I am doing the same thing. I had my 400ex for 2 weeks and had to replace a tire, steering stem, and handlebars. But at least these were all my fault.
Your luck will change and you will start to enjoy riding/racing. Just don't give up.
Everything happens for a reason, ya know?

Well unfortunately part of racing is becoming a mechanic also. I went through the same thing last year. Cases, bottom end, 2 top ends, tires, and the list goes on. Every time I got on the bike and would prep it for a race something broke. I couldn't win. I think I spent 3 times as much time working on the bike as I was riding it.Going to college and working 40+ hours a week, all I would look forward to was going racing on the weekend and sure enough something would break. But now with everything ironed out, I'm having a blast. I guess when it rains it pours but when you finally get things ironed out it will all come together. Don't get discouraged, it has happened to all of us. Do you still have a blaster?

You may be able to have the case welded. If there is a good weld shop near by they could probably weld it back together for a lot less that a new case providing that you have all of the pieces. Check with them and see regardless if you have the pieces or not. The worst that could happen is that you will have to buy another case. You will have to do that anyhow if you don't get the broken one fixed.
