I brought this exact same issue up with Racer Productions during the GNCC banquet rider input meeting. Basically, the promotion of the events does not lie with AMA itself but with the promoters that are putting on each individual event. These are the people you need to be talking to. I know what you are thinking. You pay $29(soon to be $39) per year for AMA membership and see nothing for it. That was why I brought this up at our meeting. The answer was pretty close to what I thought it would, there is no intention of the GNCC series seperating from the AMA. The main reason behind this is because the promoters get their insurance coverage through the AMA. Otherwise they would not be able to afford coverage and that would mean no racing. Carrie Jo did go on to say they had met with the new president of the AMA and he has a lot better attitude toward ATV racing and the AMA's responsibility toward that sport. We'll see what comes of that attitude. Until we can get some big name corporate sponsorship or an actual PRO level program(ATV pro class is considered amateur racing by the AMA) I don't expect to see many changes.

To my fellow readers;
For the past few years I've been trying to figure out what's been holding ATV racing back and why the manufacturers don't want to get involoved with our sport. I think I figured it out. Many of the promotors at the GNC's are not promoting our races to the public only to us racers. So as you can see it is very difficult for our sport to grow. This is where the AMA needs to step in and set these promotors straight. If they don't want to showcase ATV racing to the world professionaly then we need to get rid of these tracks. The manufacturers are out to sell their product not just ATV's but motorcycles, snowmobiles and watercraft. So with no spectators it doesn't matter if a Yamaha, Honda, or Kawasaki dominate the ATV racing scene. The AMA has promised ATV racers many things yet when I open my American Motorcyclist magazine every month I'm lucky to find a quick paragraph on how Doug Gust finally won his championship. They make it seem as if this was an easy task when so many riders can only dream of such an accomplishment. Maybe it's time we step away from the AMA and stop supporting them when they wont support us.

You said it, I go to all the Nationals and the promoters who do promote it usually have a pretty good turn out of spectators.
Like Challenger, No spectators. Are trying to tell us that in that big College town like that not 1 student would like to see a Professional Quad race. Yea right.
A large group of us go into town after the races to go grab a bite and go clubbing. The people I meet never even know that there's a race. How much cost and time is really spent putting up fliers in a few businesses or restuarant bulletin board.
When we got within about an hour or Orville we started seeing fliers everywhere. Guess what Huge turn out.. Coincidence I think NOT..
