I just got a 83 ATC200 and it started for a few seconds and dies. The previous owner put a new carb on and i think the mixture and screws are all set wrong. Is there any pre set number of turns out i can set the adjustment screws on to get it started. I also pulled the plug i get spark but when pulling it gas shoots out of the cylinder. Any ideas. Thanks as always

The small pilot screw in front of the fuel bowl should be turned about one and a half turns out. You may want to remove the fuel bowl to look for something obvious---like stuck float or needle valve. If it's a Keihin carb the main jet may be a #110. Slow jet may be a #35 or 40.
