I sold a rear end and axle to a guy on ebay from a 85 ATC250SX. He claimed the rear differential had 6 bad bearings in it where the drive shaft connects to it. He said they were completely gone and he wan'ts his money back. My question is if the bike drove fine with no rear end problems at all. I rode it for 2-4 hours. Is it possible that those could be bad? According to my manual there is only one bearing there that I see that's why his story sounds fishy. I don't wan't to send this guy back almost $150 for him to return me a different part that I sent him. What do you guys think. Would you guys take it back? I have no way of telling if the parts are the same that I sent him.
Thanks

The thing is 20 years old, what did he expect. As stated, bearings are replaceable. It sounds like he got a good deal for $150. You have no obligations.

I would say to you, that bearings are a WEAR item. I wouldnt put used bearings in anything I reassembled anyways. Sounds like you are a decent guy to inquire and even consider negotiation with the buyer. That shows class.
But IMO, items sold on EBAY are as-is and because of a bearing, I would not worry about it. You can always file a rebuttal on negative feedback -EBAY .
