It all depends on who is doing it for you. I know some guys who bore a 4 stroke cylinder for $50.00.....and some for $75.00
Check around with some of your local dealers to find the best price. Also be sure to check with them about downtime.
Usually, each dealership has ONE guy who is qualified for boring cylinders and they are usually collected each week and are all bored the same day. Some that don't get alot of cylinders for bore jobs may wait longer, so be sure to ask how long you can expect it to be there.

You will not notice any gain in power with a bore job unless you get into oversizes of 1mm ro more and even then, you will need to bump the compression to really feel it.
Since it has to be bored anyway, I would go with a big bore kit.

A bore job for $25??
3 questions...
[1]Did they know what piston material you were running?
[2]Did they ask what the engine would be intended for?
[3]Did they set your ring gaps and make the clearances based on that info?
Not doubting your statement and quality of what you got. If you got all this for $25, that's a deal.
It's just that when dealing with ATV and motorcycle engines, their is a whole lot more involvement than what comes with punching a cylinder for a Briggs&Stratton.
Oh, it must be a local thing as well.
California is home to the majority of ATV engine builders and I don't know a one who charges less than the example I gave, and I'm not talking bigbores either.

$2.21 for regular unleaded?!?!
Our state is still mostly made up of rural areas and almost everyone I know drives 30+ miles a day to work and another 30+ back home.
It's in the $1.70 range here for regular and premium is just under the $2.00 mark still
Luckily, gas prices have never peaked above $2.00 here for any type of gasoline, but the last 3 years have got me wondering.
Oh, back to the topic...
Sounds like you got a great deal with the bore jobs.
You should start adverising your own boring business. Charge $60 and then run down to your hookup and pay the $25.....That's a $35 profit!!

WOW! Remind me NOT to have anything bored in your state!
I had two 4-stroke cyls bored last year around x-mas and they cost $25 each.

They supplied the new Wiseco piston. I hope they knew what material it was

I'm not a racer, just a trail rider.
I did check the ring gaps by putting the rings in the cyl and measuring the gap with a feeler guage. The ring and piston boxes had been opened, I assume they opened it to remove them to measure the gaps.
It all works out in the end. I got cheap machine work but regular unleaded gas is $2.21 per gallon. Premium is over $2.50!
