no 85 air cooled 250r's. He must have an older engine in an 85 chassis or an older trike all together.

Hi
I just changed the gear oil, put in a new plug, put on a new fuel filter and had the carb rebilt. After i put the carb back The bike will start wont catch and run. also it backfires out the exhaust.
It seems to be gettin fuel from the tank.
can anyone give me some suggestion as things to try?
can someone explain how to adjust the air screw properly? (i messed with it trying to get it to run)
thanks
david

Air Screw should be about 2 turns out (counter clockwise) from seated. The further out you take it, the more air you let in, and the leaner the mix gets: air:fuel(more air, less fuel for the intake charge)
if the air screw is in too far the bike will turn over, but not catch and run
