Welcome to the ATV Connection forums.
Like mentioned, clean the carb. Prolly junk inside. We'll go from there.

That points to a compression problem.
Should be 125 or so.

So there is no confusion,,There is no fuel mixture screw on LT80's.
The fuel stop valve is a OK idea but only nessesary if the stock petcock malfuntions.

Patience, real help will arrive soon. Till then, check for fouled plug and take the carb apart and clean it well. That it starts & idles is a good thing.

Hello, I would suggest giving it another try with the carb cleaning. I was having a similar problem where mine would not stay idling. Take off the carb and use a paper clip or a very thin wire to stick in all of the openings, and use compressed air if you can to blow through the holes. Take off the air mixture screw (the smaller one), and clean in that area real good. Installing a fuel shutoff valve before the carb will keep the gas off you when doing regular cleanings. It also makes it easy to drain the gas from the carb when not in use.

We have just picked up a 93 LT80. It has sat for a long time without being run. I drained the gas and sprayed the carb with cleaner. The Quad starts good and idles OK (with the choke closed). As soon as you try to give it gas it bogs down or stalls. If you push it or go down a hill it runs for a while then bogs down. It is still using the oil injector.

Thanks for the info.
I took the carb off and completely cleaned it. It seemed to have fixed up the power problem, I can bomb around no problem.
Now the only way I can get it to start is to shoot a little carb cleaner into the carb. It also will not idle without the choke closed, once I get it moving, I can open the choke and as long as I give it gas it runs good. As soon as I stop it stalls unless I open the choke.
I am positive I got everything cleaned up in the carb, I did it a couple of times.

I will get it checked out. I will either be back asking for rebuild tips or I will give the quad back to my cousin and go looking for a newer one.
