Cool video I remember when my kids used to ride like that. Now they want to take Dads bikes out and race anybody and everybody. Sure brought back alot of memories.
When the front shieve is fully compressed does the belt ride up on the front pully to the point where the back of the belt is even with the top or protruding 1/8 of an inch if not on alot of auto bikes you can mill off a little of the center of the shieves on both sides allowing them to come closer together and the belt will ride higher on the front shieve resulting in more top end speed and it won't affect bottom end torque at all not sure with the mini's but that is how they are getting more top end speed on the Rhino's. Hope this helps.

Great video...Memories to cherish for a lifetime!!

Your boy looks like he may be ready for a larger quad soon.....You should check out the DRR Line up......Best 50 on the market hands down....National Champions the last 4 years.....

Stock it will blow you away with it's speed and safety features...41" wide, 4 wheel disc brakes, dual a-arm, real suspension and tires,.....

You may also want to get your boy a chest protector......My friend died when his chest hit the handlebars of his atv...no chest protector....

Ths biggest issue that quad has is it's lack of any suspension....Faster is easy.....Safe and stable....that is the hard part for the LT/KFX50

If you want to go faster on these little minis check out CT Racing...They have an exhuast and intake system...

We wasted our money on one of these quads and then realized we should have picked up a DRR 50 in the first place...but you live and you learn.....

The LT/KFX 50 serve their purpose due to the very small size of the frame...for very small riders.....but no suspension!!

We had our engine ported and polished.....New wheels with offsets and spacers to add stability...Check out the Carlisle Snow Hog tires and Douglas Aluminum Wheels.....you can also get a larger front sprocket....

Awesome --- Let me make one thing clear, That kid deserves as much credit as the mods. I've raised 2 kids on mimis, & witnessed several others. This kid looks to be using everything this lil fifty will give him! I too have a 2003 LTA50, was never more disappointed than the first time I took my son riding. Even after restrictors were removed, bike couldn't hardley get out of its own way. Had to teach him to keep the front wheels straight til he got goin, then turn em. How pathetic !! I then did all the mods mentioned except for the clutch -- WOW what a difference. The bike is now my 7yr old daughters, but her 10yr old brother @ 87lbs who has been riding since he was 4.1/2, and now racing an extremely modified LT80 for the last 3 yrs, still loves to jump on the 50 to horsearound. He can ride long distance on 2 side wheels, and do donuts all day long. With the proper mods, the LTA50 not a bad litl machine; but stock - an absolute thug.

>>He can climb some good hills now<<

My son's 2002 LT-A50 has all but its exhaust restrictors still in place, and the throttle screw tightened down quite a bit (~12 MPH max on level ground), but he rides like that video every time he's on it. Hill climbs like the one in the video are everyday events. He can't spin doughnuts except on slick winter roads, but everything else looks just like your video.

I'm not knocking what you've done, I'm just surprised that it took that much work to get that kind of performance out of your machine. I'm also wondering what will happen when I start opening up OUR little quad. I've backed off the throttle screw when servicing the machine and the untapped power in that engine is amazing. And that's not even touching the intake restrictor, the common carb adjustments, etc.

Are you saying that the stock (pre-mods) machine wouldn't do everything in the video?

I couldn't disagree more. Our bone-stock 2002 LT-A50 has PLENTY of power, and the only restrictor that has been removed is one in the exhaust port. All other restrictors are in place and the throttle screw is quite a ways in. Yet my son climbs steep hills that make you breathe hard to climb them on foot, spins doughnuts in the snow, etc. The acid test was when I had him stop against a standard neighborhood curb, then give it gas - it climbed right up and over the curb and away he went. I'm actually scared of just how fast and powerful this thing will be when I start removing restrictors in a couple of years.

I'm wondering if there was a bad batch of Suzuki engines or something. There seem to be two camps on this model - either the engine sucks or the engine is great. I'm definitely in the latter group... we could not be happier. The machine is awesome. If anything happened to this one I would immediately buy an identical replacement from eBay or Craigslist.

I removed the clutch and pulled the weights off. Clamped the weights into a vice and started drilling some material out (didn't go whole way through though) Drilled about 5-6 dimples on each side of each weight using a 1/4" drill bit. The more material you remove, the higher the stall will be.

The LT50s don't have a tranmission or CVT setup. Just a clutch.

No, could never pull the wheels. It just helps him get off the line quicker. He's able to do some good donuts now

I tried to find springs, but couldn't find anything this small that are the correct length and heavier than what's in there.

No, he could do all of the climbing before the mods (sans the restrictors). He just gets up to speed MUCH quicker now.

The suspension (if you call it that) really stinks. My son is really over-riding this quads capabilities. We're looking for a 90 or one of those Chinese 110s now.
