What type of oil are you using and what line are you referring to?

Posted by: squeege

The oiling system may be mixing too much oil, I believe many people bypass the oiling system by adding a single pull throttle cable availabe at many mini hop up sites. May want to call these guys at www.hetrickracing.com if you want to go that route. Many people do not trust the oiling systems and would rather mix oil with gas themselves. In fact, I will be doing the mod myself.

You may also have a carb/jetting issue, but I highly doubt it. I would also try a different brand oil....maybe a synthetic racing 2 stroke oil.

There are pictureshere

Cant remember where I saw the instructions....

And what manufacturer would you suggest......

Hmmmm I have filled my oil to the top of the tank and didn't have any ill effect on the
engine performance or smoke levels.....didn't know there was a fill line on the oil tank
on the DC.

Are you going through alot of oil on the machine...ours just sips it.

I was thinking of going that route as well. Does the single pull throttle cable make it easier on
the thumb? My kid complains his thumb aches after riding for awhile.

I always use synthetic. Golden Spectro.

Hey illin

Any bad side effects of plugin the line, leaving the pump in there and just mixin the gas/oil?

pull the fan cover and check the oil pump where the cable goes in , it sounds to me like the oil injector is stuck wide open. whch is better at full throttle than all the way closed but... it might be a broken spring or the cable might be un hooked. don't un hook the system usually they work just fine

I recently purchased a new Unison Desert Cat 90 from Raceway and I couldnt be happier with the bike . It's a strong running bike and very sturdy . I only have one problem , It smokes alot of white smoke while running . And it's more than just the usual smoke because a friend of mine has the same bike and about 1/3 of the smoke comes out of their quad as does mine .

I might have filled the oil level a little over the line , do you think this could cause the quad to emit this kind of "Smoke Screen " ?

Please help ?

I have to use the 2 stroke oil, which I did . I put it in the tank which is under the seat and there is a fill line on the tank itself and the oil is a little over it

Unison is actually made in California , It's not a Chinese bike I think . I have a Kazuma also and havent had a problem with it yet ..

This Oil problem doesnt affect the performance of the bike as far as I can see ..it just looks like crap .

I think the Unison is the best bike I have had for my kids yet . I have had 4 and this one was more money but sooooo much better made .

So Anything else in the smoke problem ?

I would highly recommend you tear out the oil injection tank, block the line and premix your gas. This is the ONLY way to make sure your motor gets exactly what it needs.

The injection systems are really prone to over injecting or quitting altogether.

FWIW, this is not a crappy chinese quad like all the others that we see here. This is the same exact quad being run with Polaris and Arctic Cat stickers on it.

I pulled the oil system off my son's Arctic Cat (same 90cc 2s) and it runs MUCH better with the proper 32:1. Saves some weight and I know the motor is being properly lubricated!

Not that I see. My son's has been this way for several tanks now and I have had no issues. Several folks make a block of plate, so one can remove the injector alltogether...but if I ever sell it, I can convert it back if the buyer likes (but I doubt I will ever sell this little quad).

I put a 6mm bolt in the hose wit a little RTV and zip tied it tight. Works great.

Running premix makes allot of sense as I never trust these mechanical injectors...just to much to go wrong. Something as simple as a kinked hose will blow the motor up in 5 mins. Just not worth it.

For me, I have a couple other 2S int he garage, so I always have premix around. I guess for some folks...they like the gas and go routine.

IMO if you dont want to mix your gas/oil then buy a 4S.

Sorry to hear you had problems with your Unison bike. I know some people who had ALOT of problems with their bikes. Thats why I try to stay away from Chinese made bikes. I was thinking about buying one for my son a few months ago. I did some research and am now staying away from them. Heres something I found online from them. Hope your problems get fixed.

Thank you everyone for your positive feedback from the Unison line of Desert Cat ATVs. I have some great news I wanted to share with all the Unison riders, and future riders. As most of you may know, Unison is a Taiwan manufacturer. However, sales from Taiwanese manufacturers have dropped 50% since China started manufacturing ATVs. Because of this, some Taiwanese companies have gone out of business. To combat this problem, Unison Motors also has a manufacturing plant in China. The factory in China will be put into use more in order to cut costs in manufacturing the Unison ATVs and give the public bikes at a cheaper, more affordable price. Unison Motors will keep you updated with any changes in warranty. Thank you!

As far as reliablity, anything is better than a chinese manufacturer. If price is an issue, there are some good Taiwanese companies that make some pretty good quality bikes.

Actually, thats what they'd like us to believe. They have warehouses in California, but they're not made here. They have 3 warehouses in the US, and their main one is in La Puente, California. The company is Taiwanese with their factory in China. They manufacture their bikes from China.

I've spoken with their Vice President, James Kung, and also their Marketing Director Peter in person. Their factory is in China.

You should try getting some Lotto tickets There are a few Chinese bikes that come out good... but you're rolling the dice. I'm glad you got a good one.
