First off we need to know what brand quad this is. Post pics because that would really help. We could give you a number of problems but none of them may be right because we dont know what quad it is. Post pics and we will be able to help you better.

If pics are posted it may take a few hours before they are posted.

If it turns over and it will start but it wont stay runing it sounds like you need to make some carb adjustments. Read my HOW TO carb adjustment post. This will help alot when tuning carbs. 90% of the problems with getting these running is carb tuning.

RRD0921,
Before you start the quad again, I would read 2manytoys How To carb adjustment. Also if the quad has been sitting for a while the carb is going to need a good cleaning. You may also may consider adjusting the valves.
Good Luck.

If it turns out you need to adjust the valves, here is a another good thread to read up on. The thread has the valve adjustment procedures for you to follow. Look at the 10th post down from billl2099 on Sat July 15, 2006 3:24 PM. At wits end..PLEASE help!!!!!!
One more thing, make sure the air filter is clean, and if you can replace the spark plug with a new one.

Guys,
Great pitch in on the help. This is a new quad it sounds like and I haven't heard a word on who the bought it off of or if they are helping? Or is it a fly by night again? Regardless, she is getting great advice and couldn't be in better hands. It is obvious that she didn't buy this from RACEWAY ATVs...and some other great local guys that do help. Keep up the great job. Love Many, Trust Few (trust these guys) and paddle your own canoe SEADAWG

sOn the Honda clone motors, a loud bang at start usually indicated that the four head bolts are loose. Remember, this is soft metal, so do not over-tighten - but just give each of the bolts a gentle turn with a socket.
The four head-bolts are at the front-end of the engine.
