I figured a lot of the Chinese ATV supporters were dealers as I do not know anyone who owns them that has anything good to say about them. They are mostly disposable junk.

What do you think ATV stands for?
So my wife's old Trail Blazer should keep up with a Renegade? Both are ATV's. My Ranger won't pull my trailer either.
I think if the research is done, the expectations are kept real a decent quad can be found that is not made in Japan.

Huh? Stay away from those Lamnota's there buddy, they have leaky gas tanks and are known to catch fire. Of course, the fire always starts just below your crotch area. No one wants anything roasted now, do we?

It was getting filled with too much dealer info and had to be tossed.

It was getting off topic and a little out of hand also. Too much emotion at times. Thanks for the compliments on the pics.

The biggest problem was the free advertising some of the posters were getting by others making references to their stores/dealerships. Its a fine line between advertising and getting out info some times.

I'll give you my vote Seadog. I think there should be a chinese atv catagory in this forum to sort atv's and dealers out. There always seams to be good dealers and flyby nights out there and a dedicated category may help. China will sell a container full of anything to anyone who is willing to put up the money. They don't appear willing (or at least not yet) to set up some sort of structured dealer/distributorships, which creates a terrible backlash for product support and parts availability. Selling products drop shipped in a crate really should be self explanitory to the consumer - it takes more than watching a few Nascar races to be a decent mechanic. I read a lot of posts on this forum of people who can't diagnos a simple carburetor issue or locate an oil fill/drain. When that crate arrives at your destination - your the dealer and the cheap price is soon forgotten. These "knock off" atvs are cheap because ... they are! Some are decent machines but they appear (or at least the ones I own) more geared towards a non-aggressive rider. I own a couple of Redcats, I waited until I heard a few reviews of the one I was interested in on this forum and spent the necessary time during the initial setup of the atv. I have had good luck so far but for me, I just do minimal trail riding, most of the time. The atv's sit for long periods of time so it didn't make sense for me to tie up a lot of money in a name brand unit. These atv's were a decent alternative thabn buying a used atv that was hammered on. Also I am able to repair, weld, fabricate, modify etc whatever may need to be done and don't mind doing it. The Redcats and Jetmoto line appear to be two brands that are selling to established dealers and have parts support. But we will see in a couple of years if they tank like the Yamoto line did.

Can you tell us what brands these quads are?
I've never said that all stuff out of China was junk.
There clearly is some good stuff.

I argue that china "quads" are not ATV's at all...they are single rider carts for your front yard at best

All,
Looks like my discussion forum that had so many hits has been removed? Once could argue the point on merit or one could just pretend we don't have issues to discuss. Who is silenced? Not me, I love open and honest debate even if we disagree. It is this forum I was called out about the spark arresters....I was way wrong, when I went back to inspect, all but one didn't have it! However, that is an awakening...we need OPEN and Honest discussion. One can run, but the truth can't hide! SEADAWG

Mywifesquad,
I hate when they do that. Hey, I don't mind when the defend their product and step up to the plate like raceway...but, when they try to sell junk and etc...well, that kills me. SEADAWG

All,
My point exactly, we get our own Forum and we'll sort out the good from the bad. Although I'm not calling you a liar ...and I'm not, but it is hard to believe you have over 500 hours on the Redcat with no issues. I had two (still have one), my buddy has one and we have had problems. SEADAWG

Sir,
I agree with your posting. I hope some day we can get to these crap dealers, junk peddlers and have our own consumer reports for these Chinese quads. If they don't wake up, there will be a back lash beyond belief. Trust me, you're seeing it now. SEADAWG

All,
See all these new posting with the same old question on the same old quads/bikes. If we had our own, we could better cut through the BS. Keep it going. SEADAWG

Sir,
Great posting...I think you can articulate your point and use Sir Crap's business name. I know once they see it in print, it does help if they want to stay in business. Also, I love John at RACEWAY...I just hope he doesn't get spread toooooo thin SEADAWG

Sir,
Good job...if you get a chance, give me the email address or PM me and I'll ensure they read it....if it is okay with you? If not, we'll let it ride. SEADAWG

Sir,
Wow, good articulate article. Great points and I couldn't agree with you more. I think that is our goal here is to get a Chinese forum, but also to get the attention of these dealers that just peddle and leave. China is smart, they just build and have no real liablity here. They know they can truly cut and run. I guess what shocks me about the Chinese is that they really don't respect any copyright laws, so why didn't a country that has NO RESPECT ...pirates/piracy not copy better. Anyway, we are here to help weeding them out. You need to help us. You see us guys on here maybe regular or semi-regular, but we love more guys/gals.
Also, I have ridden the DPX-200 from Redcat quit often...except for the cheap battery, my buddies has held up pretty well. It is heavy as all get out, but has been worth the money...and we have had it on some pretty rough trails. How is yours doing? SEADAWG

Thats like saying Ford or Chevy low end cars are junk. If you maintaim them and give them some TLC. They serve there purpose a lower price toy for the common man who can turn a wrench.
Yes they are not a $6,000 Honda. There a $1200 to $2,000 toy, not for racing or abuse.
May be you need to stop and look at the big picture before you start slamming.

P.S. We have had min. problem and over 500 hours on each unit

Sorry you said "mostly" not all.
I am not saying there are as good as or better than name brands.
Ok new subject now!!

Seadawg,
Didn't say I didn't have any Issues it came with a bad carb. New one sent by Redcat worked fine. Cracked lower motor mount. 200# man abusing a 150cc. Battery went downhill at 3 mo. Nuts and bolts loosen up, red Loctite. That is it other than normal items like oil change, rear end lub. change and plugs. Mind you no jumping or crazy stuff as I am 65 years young. Just trail riding and sand hill climbing.
A lot of problems with China Quads are :
1. Poor quality in assembly at the factory.
2. Incorrect assembly by the owner
3. Some metal quality issues
4 Poor maintenance by owners
5. Asking the unit to more than is built to do.
But for $4,000 savings when your on a fixed budget and can turn a wrench there ok.
Have a good one and keep the tires on the turf BR>Nitrox

Reaching the 6 month mark on the Redcat. I have to honestly say, that thing surprised the sh*t out of me so far. Between my 14 yr old. and myself, through the bumpiest soybean fields around, this thing hasn't missed a beat. Doesn't have the ride quality of my Zuki or the Boss, but it's been bulletproof so far. I am finding out it starts well even on cold PA days, and warms up faster than my Zuki. However, with that said, I wish I had bought it from Raceway. The dealer I bought it from, "Sir Craptapulous the Dealer" (real name withheld) has not been the friendliest or most helpful. I stop by his shop once in a while just to check out what the new models look and feel like in person, but I would never buy from him again. After seeing John at Raceway bend over backwards for people, a lot of which didn't even buy from him, I am truly convinced he is the last true salesman who believes in total customer satisfaction. Bad dealers like Sir Crap are some of the reason these quads get a bad name. When I bought the quad from him, I paid for the registration plate and title work, just to find out a month and a half later he never sent the stuff in. I had to call him four times just to get him to send in the paperwork that I had already paid for! Sorry for the long post, but in the end, my Redcat has been one of the most reliable quads I have owned, but I will say what I saved in money, I sacrificed a little in ride quality. Bad bump steer.

Roger that. The dealer's name is Timebomb's Off Road Powersports. Hanover, PA located on Rte 94 between New Oxford and Hanover.

Wasn't sure if you were talking to me Dawg or not, but my Redcat has held up very well. I bought it for my son six months ago, and <knocking on wood> it has never left us sit. The only issues I have had:
I got the kill switch wet one time washing heavy mud off the quad and it would run for a little while, shut off, and not restart. I took the switch apart and dried it out, good to go.
I had to take apart the brake light switch one time and clean it out. Wouldn't let the quad turn over unless the brake pedal was in a certain sweet spot.
Changed the crappy set of factory handlebars to a set of MSR's
That's it. It's been great. The next things I will get for it will be the wheel spacer's from Raceway, and some day I will measure the bolt pattern and try to find some bigger wheel/tire combos.
It's pretty fast too. Lets my Yamaha sit off the line, but I get it on the top end, not by much. I barely beat it off the line with the Zuki.
Together we will weed out these crappy dealers one by one, one address and phone number at a time! We as consumers deserve nothing less than for our dealers to stand by their machines like Raceway.
