My sons falcon 110 has been making a horrible clacking noise lately and I think it's the chain. I loosened the bolts and tightened the large bolt that tightens the chain but it didnt stop the noise. I can see the chain bouncing around alot. I have added paddle tires and am not sure if it is contributing to the slap or not. I was wondering if anyone elses is having the same noise and if a chain roller somewhere could help

My son wieghs only like 50 lbs or so.
I was thinking the paddles were responsible from the pulsing.
I looked over the chain path and there not really a chain roller or gaurd to keep it from slapping or rubbing on the swingarm.
I might have to fashion something.

Wow this was a while back!
I finally figured out how to tighten the chain but now its alittle hazy.
I know there were like 2 different screws that affected the tightening of the chain.
I just played around until the chain was tighter.
It still makes a slapping noise but I think its from the paddles he now has.
I like the idea if the pvc swing arm protector.
We are going to Pismo in a few weeks. I'll fashion something then.

Hi BigJon, Id assume the paddle tires have increased the force on the chain and its stretched a bit. I also would think that the pulses of the paddle tires would cause some extra noise out of the chain too. All the chinese quads that I have looked at run the chain close to the swingarm with no rubbing blocks to both deaden the noise and keep the chain from wearing into the swingarm too. I would make sure the chain isnt to loose or tight. As long as it isnt tossing the chain you should be alright.

How much does the kid weigh? Have you look at the shock or how much the rear dips? I had the same problem with mine. Also, look at the bolts, my stripped out and didn't hold well. Put a lock washer on the bolts. Is the chain guard bent? I hit a stump and bent mine up a few times? Keep me posted. SEADAWG

do a search on smb05, look at his pics he use to have a pic of a pvc mod on the frame to help against this wrecking the swing arm, later hoyt

Did you end up modifying to eliminate the chain slap? My kids' Kazuma's are doing the same thing and I would like to add something to stop this. Thanks for your help!

Take a peice of 3/4 or 1 inch pvc pipe about 3 or 4 inches long and split it,taking out a nice 1/2 inch gap or so.Then you can trim it up and slip it over the swing arm.Use cable ties or heater hose clamps to hold it on the ends.Mission accomplished...
