The Extreme typhoon is geared more to raceing although the DC90 is very popular for raceing because of the 2 stroke and there are tons of mods for it. I have a DC90 and it is a great machine. It is on par with the name brands in every way. It has tons of power and very quick. The motor in the Dc90 has been used in mini quads for years and is proven very reliable. The DC90 is the same as the Polaris predator 90 except for the plastics and some monor things. The Polaris is built by the same company. I dont think you can go wrong with either but 500 is not much difference the typhoon would be really cool.

seejust the Unison 90 is an awsome machine. Either one of these would be good but for the money you cant beat the Unison.

man if they charged you 3 grand for your typhoon you better go back and get a grand back from them. retail on the 90 is $2200 and the 125 is suppose to be $2400. billy holt at wrh racing just sold a brand new one he bought to use to fab parts from for $2000. i am helping him deliver it to dallas next week. a friend has one that only has a couple of hours on it and has decided to stay with his 115cc stroked predator. he wants $2000 for his. it has the new cdi, bigger carb, fox rear shock, rejetted, also has the 108 big bore kit and oil cooler for it that have not been put on yet.

we just got back from our first trip with the typhoon, IT ROCKS. At first it had a few minor problems, loose screws and would stall if the throttle was hit hard from a dead stop. We had Jason Day from trd innovations from Portland Or. come down and bring some goodies for it. After the Yoshi pipe, K&N filter,new cdi box, re geared and some jetting changes this thing would just flat out fly. Great handling and awesome suspension. Our 6 year old just loves it and the shifting was picked up is just a few hours. Jason can also fab a heal toe shifter to make it easier on the young ones to shift. Now with these mods this quad will pull me around in the SAND at over 200 pounds. The only other thing we will be adding is an oil cooler. We are talking with PRM about making new nurfs,skid plates and bumpers. PM me if you have any questions.

the typhoon is 3,050 retail price and lots of aftermarket companies are making parts for them as well as standard 4x110 rear and 4x144 front wheel bolt patterns.

here are some pics of the Typhoon. the reason the price should be up there more is the extra work they do to it. loc tite all the bolts, change the jetting in the carb, new grips, adjust the suspension, set camber and caster properly, and a new cdi box to start. there are a few other mods they do to it and I cant remember at this time.

First off, the Extreme Typhoon name sounds alot cooler than the Desert Cat's. IMO But also since the Typhoon has an auto-clutch 4spd, it should have a bit more power, and higher top speed. I am not sure about the shocks and whatnot, but the auto-clutch is a great way to learn how and when to shift. It will be easier to teach him a clutch if he knows kinda how to shift already.

Take a long read there. For some reason there is two forums
for the extreme quads. Some like them some absolutely hate
them.
The Desert Cat 90 is a little tank and quite fast. I just went through my kids
after he has ridden it for around 10 hours and tighened a few bolts up and
all is well. The tie rods came loose after quite a few jumps but some locktite and
a good wrenching and they are all shiny now. For my 8 yr old the quad is great.
I am looking to get some extened A Arms and better shocks for it though.
Unfortunately we don't have sand to run around in here in WNY so I could not
tell you how it performs in those conditions.

Glad to see the DC90 does well in the sand. I know it scoots well in the snow out here in WNY.
2manytoys, I was looking at the Predator 90 (which has now been replaced by the Outlaw 90 4-stroke for 2007)
and underneath it did looked pretty similar. I know rear suspension on the Pred 90 is definately more plush than
that of the DC 90. I'll have to go to the dealer and see if the rear shock of the Pred fits the Desert Cat.

If your kid is riding whoops and MX stuff then the Typhoon is probably the way to go. The DC is pretty good,
but for jumps you can hear it when it lands....
If the Typhoon had been out last December when I bought the DC90 then I probably wouldn't have a DC90.
I've been tempted to sell it to the neighbor and get the Typhoon, but my kid is not a shifter yet....he'll have to
learn sometime if he wants to inherit my 400EX when he gets bigger.

My just turned 9 year old has all but outgrown his Raptor 50 and it is now time to pass it on full time to my 7 yr old daughter.
So I now need to find the boy a new quad. My 11-year old daughter has a JetMoto 150 and so far loves it. Runs great, easy to ride and decent power, but I know my boy would destroy this in a very short time though. He rides like a typical boy!!!
So the 2 quads I am looking at are the Unison Desert Cat 90 and the new Extreme Typhoon 90. The Typhoon is about $500 more, but it looks like it is awesome with a much better suspension. I have never seen one in person though.
The Unison is a 2 stroke CVT but the Typhoon is a 4 stroke autoclutch 4 speed. So which one will have more power for getting out of sand and be quicker?
ANY comments, experience or suggestions is very much appreciated!!

How is the suspension on the Desert Cat. My boy loves jumping. I cringe every time I hear that Raptor thumping to the ground or hitting the whoops with its full 2.3" of travel. Does the Desert Cat suck up the bumps and landings pretty well???
That is the thing that interested me the most with the Typhoon. It is stock 41.25" wide, so no need for aftermarket A-arms and it comes stock with Fox suspension with rezzies on the front. It has 7" of travel in the front suspension.
I want to be able to get him something that will at least last him a few years before he outgrows the next quad too

We have a DC90 that my 7 year old rides. We bought it after a bad deal with one of those stupid chinese bikes. I drove 5 hours to let him ride it before we bought it. We ended up buying it after he rode it. The guy who sold it uses the Unison in his rental fleet down at Winchester Bay in the Oregon Dunes area. We go riding almost every weekend with it and we have had no problems. He can make it up some pretty good hills of sand. Like the other person said, there are tons of mods you can do with it also. That was another reason we decided to get it. It is pretty solid has a good wheel base. I don't think we have even opened it up all the way yet. It scoots right along. My husband is 220 and it pulls him just fine. I don't know anything about the other bike you mentioned, sorry.
They also make bigger Unisons though you could check into those too. We love this bike. Best thing is to call some dealers of both and see what they tell you about them. We figured if it was used in a rental fleet it should be pretty reliable. We bought it from www.bumblebeeatv.com. The guys name is Rod and he also sells some Jetmotos. He would be a good resource since he business is Rentals and Sales and the Oregon Dunes are a great place to ride.

You might look real hard at the Apex ProShark in 50, 90, and 100cc's. These are the best of both worlds. Huge dual-arm suspension. Really too much to mention. These are water cooled 2 strokes that are similar to the Typhoon for suspension with the power of the 2 stroke. I would send some info but I don't know how to do it on here, lol! I know they are real reasonable in price for what you get. Apex also has a race machine called the ProMx (70,90,50) Gusseted frame and swing arm, bigger carbs, pipe, the whole nine yards.
