I see a lot of issues directly relasted to the elec choke. We install a manual choke mechanism on most of the quads. Its available from Polaris as a kit and easy to install

I just got my sons polaris back from the shop, doin' the same thing. They took the carb right off and cleaned it. Said there was varish{old gas] on the side and the needle had some dirt on it. runs great now!

If you can, remove the carb and take to a motocross/ATV shop. They will completely disassemble and clean it out with special solutions. Also, install new gas. Natural condension creates water in the gas. This sometimes creates back-fires. As another idea, check its float level. I've heard the float adjustments on the 16mm carbs are very sensitive. If above 1/2 throttle and starts back firing, it could mean improper air mixture, from improper set float level.
If you haven't done so already, remove its factory RPM clip. Only set this RPM range using its throttle adjustment screw. I've read in the Polaris manual that if this Metal Clip is installed and its throttle control screw is set higher, it will (by default) get improper gas/airflow mixture. Thus, some backfires when "trying" to go above 1/2 throttle.
Hope this helps as well...

I agree with the other guys sounds like clogged carb mainjet or passage, fuel filter. Even float seat clogged possibly.

3/4 to full throtle bogs and backfires. Sounds like a clogged main jet. Pull the float bowl and check to see if it is clogged.

My 2002 predator 90 bogs down and backfires when throttle is 3/4 to full, but runs fine off the line to 1/2 throttle. I've changed the fuel filter, checked the spark plug (beer bottle brown), and I have drained the fuel and oil tanks. When I remove the filter and spray carb cleaner in it it dies.
Any suggestions??

I pulled the carb, took it apart and cleaned it. I was kind of hesitant at first since it's the 1st time in my life I've ever pulled a carb and cleaned it. It wasn't near as difficult as I imagined. Pulling off all the plastic was the hard part. It runs better than ever now. Thanks for the advice!! I cleaned the whole thing with gasoline and a new paint brush then sprayed it all clean with carb cleaner. Should I have put in new gaskets or seals? I just screwed it all back together without any type of adheasive or sealant. Thanks again.
