quicknick, you raised the needle one notch, please fill me in on the procedure. i assume that its self explanitory once you get the carb taken apart? thanks joe.

DOES ANYONE HAVE EXP. W/ THIS QUAD. I JUST PURCHASED ONE. GREAT OUT OF THE CRATE. HOWEVER, IT STARTS ...WELL LETS JUST SAY THAT IT IS THE COLDEST BLOODED THING I HAVE SEEN AND THE LOW TORQUE IS SO SLOW I FEEL LIKE I'M RIDING A BRIGES AND STRATTON GO-CART. I'M REALLY AFRAID OF TAKING THIS ON THE TRAILS...EVEN JUNIOR TRAILS. IT IS OKAY ONCE IT GETS THE RPM'S UP, BUT IT TAKES TIME OR NOT AT ALL AND BOGS DOWN. I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF IT NEEDS TO BE BROKEN IN OR IS IT REALLY THIS WEAK??? MY DEALER WAS GREAT, NO MIS-ADVERTISING....GREAT PRICE, GREAT SUSPENSION, GREAT HEIGHTH AND SMOOTH CHASSY...JUST ??? I'M SORRY, THE ENGINE NEEDS STERIODS BIG TIME. PLEASE HELP OLE SEADAWG UNDERSTAND.

All, I adjusted the valves, drained the carb, oil the air filter and put a lock tie around the intact rubber. It has better response and is doable. Seadawg

All, thanks for the help. I've tried everything and this is just a design/engineering flaw. I hope the aftermarket fixes this low RPM problem. Although I was not mislead, I'm just shock this is so weak at the low end. I'm still scared to take it to the woods. If you hear of any aftermarket carbs or things that will allow this to have the UMPF in the engine that it has in appearance!! SEADAWG

Hi happydad, 1st remove the carb. Then remove the top cover. It is spring loaded. Next remove the diaphram and slide assembly. Using a 8mm socket turn (by hand) the plastic nut 1/4 turn and it will come out. Gently push the needle up from the bottom. Once this is all out of the slide you can simply move the clip one notch down. This will raise the needle. Reassemble and replace the carb.
Three things to be careful about.
The clip on the needle can fly across the room and be lost forever. Do this in a clean area and be careful.
The second thing is to be sure the needle goes into the needle jet (hole in carb) when replacing the slide.
Third, the diaphram has a index notch so the slide faces the airflow properly. You will be able to see the index in the grove on the carb body that the diaphram seats in. After it is all together push the slide up into the carb and it should go all the way up and come back down slowly

There's a post under Raceway ATV's on what I did to my falcon 250 to get it running better. It's a real powerful unit right now. It is running way better than I expected it would.
