I would say the main reason they should not be used at the track is the suspension. It is far from trak material. Most of these the bolts are cheap. They use a standard grade bolt that I dont think would hold up. Not sure if the clutch can handle the abuse of raceing. I just dont think they can be track worthy. I would get the 200cc with the manual clutch. It will be quicker, faster and more powerful.

I own a vx-200 and so far am very pleased with the quality look and fell of the quad. As to its longevity we will see. Also look at the vx series rear shock mount. You will notice on most of the import quads the rear shock is straight (almost straight) up and down. The redcat vx and the boreem (www.boreem.com 150 and 200) do not, they have the shock at a much lower angle in front of the battery box. You get a much more active suspension like that.Seems to work great on my vx-200.

AIRMETZULU,
The problem would be, is that these ATVs are not made for track abuse. Sure you can take them on a track but as far as parts holding up to a beating on a track, they just won't. Now if you are a good fabricator and have time to modify your quad than why not try. I'm sure everyone here in these forums would love to hear how your quad, whether it is a 150 or 200 works out.
I've have a newer 150cc similar to the VX 150. The only design flaw that I see being a major problem is the reverse gear on the drive axle. Also I don't like the design of the rear-box itself. They do leak.
If you find a quad without a reverse, like the older Yamoto's you will have a better chance of it taking a beating. Better design on the rear axle. Now as far as the motors are concerned, the GY6 style is a good design for the buggy's and quads they are putting them in. But again for casual to moderate abuse. Your top seed for these quads with the GY6 is around 25-35mph. There are ways to make them faster with the appropriate mods.
As far as the 200 goes I can't answer that, don't have one yet to mess around with. There are some people in these forums that have the 200cc and hopefully they will respond.
But again this is for the newer VX models.
Can't answer for any of the other models that Redcat and Kazuma have.

2manytoys,
I agree with you on the suspension not being track worthy. But if your quad won't move because the gear box went out after the first jump, then the suspension doesn't matter. I do not have much faith in my reverse gear for even moderate abuse. Heck did a wheelie in the drive way, and the gearbox made an awful noise and the quad feels like it skips a tooth on the gears. Also if the cable is not adjusted properly on these, the gear box while going in reverse will skip and the chain will make a popping motion along with some bad noise at the gear box.
But people when you read this do not think that these are bad quads, they are just not built for heavy abuse. My daughter does not ride like a 12-15 year old. Heck even some younger kids ride a lot more aggressive than she does. These quads are great for casual riding which my daughter does. No abuse. Plus they are a lot of fun to modify.

Greetings.
I have been doing some incredible reading here on Redcat and Kazuma ATVs. First, this is the best forum on these machines I have found. I have been reading the posts daily for the past month, in making a determination about buying a Redcat VX150 or VX200.
I have learned alot from each of you. However, I still have some questions hopefully somebody will answer. First off, I have read alot about the poor quality of Redcat/Kazuma/Yamamoto etc. ATVs. but what I don't understand is that if one takes time or has a professional properly setup ie: use locktight then why couldn't a VX150 or VX200 be used at the track. Sure the quality may not be the best but if you lock everything down then whats the problem?
I lastly am wondering if the $300.00 difference is worth it between the VX150 and VX200. The only differences I can see is the larger engine, and the fact the 200cc is water cooled and has a manuel vs the automatic in the VX150. everything else is the same including the weight of each machine.
Sorry for the long text: Which ATV between these two would you choose and why.
Many Thanks in advance.
