Worst comes to worst, they will probably just close shop for a bit and return under a different name. Might not even bother to change the product any.

That is sweet. I hate it when people come into the shop and ask for parts for Yamoto products.

That's interesting, I was concidering buying one for my grandson for xmas. Maybe I'll go back to my first choice for him the Polaris. Don't want to end up with something I can't get part's for later.

It looks like Patriot Motorcycles will continue on. They settled with Yamaha. However Yamoto is still under the gun. I wonder what Patriot will bring to us next. I would be willing to bet that they won't be importing any more "Yamoto" branded products. It is a good thing that 95% of all of the chinese atv's have interchangeable parts. I have heard that Patriot at least has Millions of dollars in replacement parts for the Chinese ATV's. I believe Yamaha actually felt a little treatened by Patriot. They said themselves that they couldn't compete in their original lawsuit filing. I believe that they realized Patriot Motorcycles was on the right path to creating a legitimate dealer support network for their products.
Here is a link I found on Yahoo News

The motor is a honda clone, so is the transmission. The body parts are a raptor clone.
The stuff in between. I'm not sure.
On the yamoto 50 that my daughter has. The transmission is clearly a knockoff of the old 3 speed
honda tranny they used on there trail 50 motorcycles. In fact the location where the shifter and kick start would go are
clearly visable. I'm betting there automatic tranny on the 50 is a 3 speed locked in third. A buddy of mine that is a
mechanic for yamaha is going to help me split the case this winter. We are curious. I'd like to see if they cloned it
enough that it could be turned back into a shifter.

I clicked the link and nothing comes up. Does anyone have the article or can you find it again, copy and paste it here?
Thanks, Teej6

Are they actually Yamaha engines with Yamaha clearly marked on the engines? Or are they Yamaha design engines where this Chinese company has bought old Yamaha tooling and the Chinese company is manufactoring it's own Yamaha design engine?

Have you guys seen the photos that Yamaha supplied as part of its lawsuit? It shows a Yamaha Raptor 50 and 70 plus a TTR125 and the rival models from Yamoto. They disassemble them and then reassemble them mixing all the parts up and everything's interchangable bolt for bolt-hole. Shame on Yamoto, IMO rip-offs like this shouldn't be tolerated. I hope Yamaha prevails.

I'm new to this forum and found this thread as was looking for mod tips for my 7 yr. old son's 2005 Yamoto 70 that I bought him for his b-day this past July.
One comment/concern I have with Yamaha's lawsuit and subsequent settlement with Patriot, is that I hope this doesn't make it harder for current owners of Yamoto's to find mods, parts, etc. (although I'm starting to think that wouldn't be possible since I'm not having a lot of luck in finding consitent mod tips for my son's Yamoto 70...) A different thread in this forum indicated that the Yamoto 70's motor parts should be interchangeable with the Honda ATC 70's (or CT 70's) motor parts, mods, etc... Which is it? The Yamaha's or Honda's?
Secondly, I have to admit that I bought the Yamoto 70 vs. the Yamaha Raptor 50 mostly because of how much less expensive the Yamoto 70 was than the Yamaha, as I figured I would need to replace it in a year or two once my son got a bit bigger (although I think that if I had been making a "long term" purchase, the Yamaha would probably have been my choice).
Also, getting him the 70 cc motor seemed better than a 50 cc, as he weighs around 52 lbs. and is just shy of 4'-2" so he seemed "too big" for most 50's but too small (and had no experience) for the bigger 90's offered by Honda, Polaris, etc. In fact, having looked at the Polaris Predator 90 first (being biased toward Polaris myself, hence "Scramblator"...), was shocked when the Polaris dealer not only "discouraged" me from buying a Polaris 90 for him, he went so far as to say he "wouldn't sell me a "90" for him, only a "50"..."... That sort of narrowed my choices and scared me from getting him a 90...
I welcome any tips on mods for my son's Yamoto 70 or suggestions on "size/age appropriate" replacements for it, but please be nice if you're a "Yamoto hater" as I'm just trying to do right by my kid. His Yamoto 70 fits as far as the physical size of the quad (i.e. foot position, hand-reach, etc.), but it is a dog from a dead start... In fact, any slight incline or bump in front of it actually prevents it from starting to roll... I can even put my feet on the front tires and hold it full-throttle and stop it from moving with just my feet... Gotta hate that...

Thanks for the clarification/confirmation that the motor is a Honda clone. I think I will get him that 88 cc ATC 70 mod kit I noted from the other thread. I also just found out that a friend of mine (who had got his son the Yamoto 110) found a pipe for it, re-jetted it, etc. and said just that alone made a world of a difference. Hopefully between the 88 cc kit and a new pipe, jetting, etc., I can get my son's Yamoto 70 a lot more low end.

Does anyone have a copy of the "Patriot Motorcycles settles with Yamaha" article? I tried the Yahoo Finance link but the document has now expired.
Also, what are they selling now? they just label them "Patriot"
I am looking to perhaps buy a 4-stroke 110 with reverse (or a 90 if I can get it with reverse, which Polaris now has but which also has apparently some reliability problems already on the 2007 model), and Patriot has one. Kazuma also has one, which I can get here in Canada from kmsmotorsports.com as a "Lacoste 110", but I'm not sure how reliable it is.
Any help would be much appreciated.
