Does anyone know how to tune these up a little?
they seem a little low on speed compared to smaller kid quads.
I read that they go 40-45mph, but have tested one and it is much less(32mph)

I just bought one (Yamoto 150), I am overall happy with it. My daughters (6 & 10) ride it more than they did their '01 Eton(Sundiro). I didn't try any mods, I want to get a definite starting point first. I was told that they go 40-45 but the one I just bought only hit 32mph. I must say though, it does seem to have a bit more power/speed now that hey have broken it ina little more(less than a week old). I'll have to get the radar gun again and see.
once i get it going like advertised, I may try a few minor mods(airbox tricks,jetting...).
i left some views in another thread about the 150cc 4 stroker here are some more.
heavier than other kid quads
stable (great tires)
smooth running
great looking (Yamaha Raptor Style)
good on gas
cheap shocks/ not adjustments
stiffer riding for the smaller kids
great value ($1000-$1500 shipped - on ebay)

well i radared the 150 yamoto again, but it was with my nephew on it(15yrs old 6' 175lbs.)
he got 34mph with it. It's still is far from the 40-45mph as stated in the quad's description, but it has gained 2 mph even with a 100lbs more on it, since it has gotten broken in a little.

I don't have one of these yet. But, i am getting one in the next few weeks for my 9 year old son. He weighs in at a hefty 75 lbs.. Back to your question, have you tried the usual mods. Like removing the airbox lid or drilling 1" holes in it, rejetting the carb, or exhaust?

What is your altitude? The Yamoto engines are tuned to sea level, and on the low side at that. I am at 7000ft, and had to open up the airbox to equalize on my 200. just took the airbox lid off and tried for a bit. Read the plugs, and they were light tan (Perfect) as opposed to slightly dark and damp (very rich) before I opened the box up. I now run a pod filter for ease of cleaning.
I may clear out the exhaust, as it is baffled AND wadded. No need for that wadding. Then I will likely have to jet a tad richer, or put the airbox back in.

I bought one of these for my wife and have not clocked it yet,but when I rode it, it seemed like I was going less than 35mph.It did seem as though it had some kind of rev limiter though.The wife is thrilled with it and does not have any complaint's so far.She has probubly not had it past half throttle yet and may never.I will be posting a thorough review soon,and have already made some new part's for it.I am a machinist and have a good supply of aluminum stock.I will list mods when I do my review.

Where is this restrictor plate located? In the air box, or in the carb? It is not mentioned in the manual I have.

Welcome to the forum jcotti, I put my wifes quad together, a yamoto 150, and it was no big deal.A few metric sockets and box wrenches is all that is necessary. You need to unbolt it from the metal crate and then install the wheel's, fill the battery and install it. Lift the handle bars and tighten. The most important part is to Loctite everything. Especially the smaller bolt's, 6mm etc... I would reccomend changing the motor oil before starting it up also. I dont think that the quality of chinese oil is that good and a quart of oil is cheap.Especially compared to the metal parts it protect's. If you have any mechanical skills it should be pretty straight forward. And advice is real easy to get right here. Usually with pretty quick turn around time.Hope this helps and please feel free to ask as many questions as you want.

jcotti The battery justneeds to be filled with electrolite. It comes with it and is very simple to do. I have just recently needed a part for my yamoto , mywife fried the rear caliper last saturday, leftthe parking brake on. I e-mailed yamoto and hope for a answer today will let you know. I am assuming that you have read all the post's under Yamoto 150 Review as well as this post. Lots of info there.As for your other question, I am not a quad guy but you seem to be the perfect physical size for the raptor 660.

If it's broken in, it's time to take the restrictor plate off the air intake. This is actually a standard procedure. I think it's mentioned in the manual, so it doesn't even qualify as a "mod". You'll notice a decent increase in performance and some increase in sound.

I'm speaking of the 110 here, but I would assume they are essentially the same in this regard.
It was basically a heavy-duty piece of cardboard blocking the filter for the air box. The cardboard had about 6 3-hole punch size holes punched through the otherwise 6"x8" cover. After removing it, I noticed a deeper growl and better top-end performance (actually more power in all three gears).
To remove it, I simply removed the 4 clips that keep the front plastic grille in place. then popped off the black plastic cover on the air box. Beneith that was the cardboard which I removed, then put everything back in place. The spring-like clips were a bugger to reinstall, but I got them eventually.
I would say the bike got about 10%-15% performance once the air restrictor was removed. Also, I opened up the speed limiter so the atv was not held back any.

on the 150cc yamoto the air box is mountet under the seat.
cant find anything in the airbox that is blocking the air intake.
i thing my yamoto 150cc is just going 40-50 km/h i thing that would be like 30 somting in mph
is ther any way to make it faster

Hello all, first timer here! I am planning to buy my son (8 yr old, 90lbs) a Yamoto 150cc from a place called Raceway ATV in NYC next month, they do free shipping and the price is around $1500. Reading all these reviews is GREAT for someone like me that doesnt know much about these quads. Does anyone have any feed back other than the standard on these bikes? Like how hard it was to put together if they had to? The one I am getting needs some assembly. Do I need any out of the norm tools? Thanks to all that reply and this is a great place for newbies to get info. Cheers

Thanks for the tips. I am pretty handy and can change the oil on my truck. Can't imagine a quad will be much dif. What do you mean by fill the battery? Has anything ever broken and needed a part replaced? How easy was it to get a part? This may not be a forum for this question, but here goes.
I have never owned a quad for myself, but have ridden friends quads plenty of times. I am planning to buy myself a quad when tax season comes (hopefully I'll get a good refund)!!! I have been looking at dif ATV's and I really love that Raptor look of the Yamaha Raptor 660. Is this to much bike for me. I am about 6'0 and about 200lbs. I dont want to buy a small one and find that I need to re-buy in a year or two. I'd rather buy big and ride slow until I am more experienced and comfortable. Any thoughts?
