For question I have is did you remove the Oil injector system??? I would get rid of it. We got rid of ours just for the fact that they do have a tendency to screw up...hence causing you to do some serious damage to the motor.
try talking to Greg Peak Dirtrides.com, WRHracing.com Billy Holt, Hetrickracing.com . I know they do come onto this site also. Check out their websites and give them a call.
If were you I would change my post topic to "Hey Masterwrench can you Help me" LOL!!! He is also a guy who know's his Kasea's/LRX.
try miniatvs.com that site is for mini's only.

have you tried jetting it, and maybe changing the oil you run in it.

You probably need to rejet with that K&N. The factory intake is pretty restrictive. Also, when you change the intake you need to adjust the mixture on the carb. If you haven't, that might be part of the problem.
I've also heard going to premix helps.
But every 2-stroke I've ever had smoked a little.

Not necessarily. I know from experience that adjusting the mixture will affect the amount the engine smokes.
Also, don't assume it was set right from the factory.

I purchased a small quad similar to the Kaesa, but it had a 90cc 4stroke in it. It was ok, but definitly needed some work. After installing a honda 125 carb, open airbox, and exhaust mods, it would finally keep up with our trx90. It was an ok bike for my daqughter to learn on, but the cvt really kills it. I couldnt set the throttle limiter properly, because the cvt needed alot of rpms to engage, then it would just go too fast. I dont know if the 2stroke cvt works better or not though. I ended up just putting the trx into first or second, removing the shifter, and setting the throttle limiter. This worked much better and was much safer.
On a side note, I have a complete honda 125m engine and electronics package(minus wiring) that I would sell if you are interested. I will need a top end job(bore and new piston, relap valves). I purchased this engine to put into the TRX, but the kids are just too big for it now, ended up getting a 250 instead.

Ya know, I forgot to mention that jetting part myself. When you increse the air flow to the engine you will definatly have to rejet. I would try 2 or 3 sizes up and go from there. Thats why it ran bad without the resrictions(it was running way too lean). If it is oil injection at the carb, it may be causing it to pull extra vacuum on the oil feed. You may just consider going to a premix, then jetting accordinly. Just remember, that with the premix, you will have to run even larger jets to compensate for the mixture and not run too lean.
The engine is out of an 84-85 honda 125m. It has an auto tranny with 4 speed tranny and hi/low range. I dont have any pics right now, but I can have some in a day or so. I chose this engine because the cyclinder is inline with the engine just like the honda trx90. I dont need the engine anymore and am not greedy, so just make an offer and I will consider it.

Mike, you dont need to be such an ass, besides that, if he added more airflow, then he will need to add more fuel. The smoke is from the oil injection, not the fuel mix. With just the k&n, he is too lean.

rscoyote,
As a suggestion, pre-mix at 32:1 to set your carb. After you get the low & high speed jet(s) set properly, then adjust your pre-mix ratio. To me, 50:1 seems a little too thin of ratio. At this ratio, your piston/rings and head will heat up too much. I know it smokes less at 50:1 (from your above comments) but I suspect the mass amount of smoke is from improper jet mixture - NOT improper Oil Mixture.
If wondering, I've removed the oil injection system from our '03 Pred-90. I run around 34:1 and our average ground speed is 15 MPH. For our unit, it smokes really good when the engine is cold or when gunned from an idle. For example, giving it lots of gas to zip up a hill or in the deep mud. When driving at a steady speed, my son's unit only has a small visual of smoke coming out its pipe. When the jets are tuned properly and the mixture is "just right", it should only have very little smoke. To tell you the truth, my weed eater and chain saw smoke more then our Pred-90. Then again, I enjoy playing with my son's quad more then my own toys.
If you feel uncomfortable setting the jets, perhaps there's a small engine specialist (or neighbour who works for a few beers) who can help you? Purchasing / replacing an improperly jettted 2 stroke engine with a 4 stroke seems like an extreme. When properly tuned, 2 strokes can be lots of fun to drive and follow close up. Hopefully, you can find someone in your neighborhood who can help "tweak" its carb jet and final Oil Mixture ratio for you.

For a long time, I did lots of research on the K&N Filter, uni-filter and even foam pod filters. Many people like these filter upgrades over the factory air-boxes because they let more air in the carb, and can give an engine the "extra boost". Unrestricted air flow can create dramatic performance gain. For more performance upgrade details, surf: - Air Filter Upgrade Evaluation -
For our unique deep mud and water "trail only" conditions, I decided NOT to go with these open filters. Water and open air filters don't mix very well. Instead, I replaced the factory snorkle on our Predator 90 air box with a shorter pipe that has a better air flow bend in it. Actually, it's a modified pipe from an old washing machine discharge pipe I found in my attic. Now I know why my wife calls me "a pack rat". Anyway, we are running with the factory carb and this modified snorkle. If I was into racing or into dry trails, I'd probably go with the uni-filter. Some say the K&N doesn't keep ALL the dirt / dust out. Some swear by the K&N filter.
For a visual of our modified snorkle pipe, surf:

For the most optiminal carb size for your Kasea (based on your unique riding conditions), I would recommend you contact Greg Peak at www.dirtrides.com or Billy Holt @ WRH Racing. These folks specialize in mini-quad racing and engine performance parts. As a baseline, I'm sure each of them could recommend a "base jet setting" to start with. From there, you'll have to "tweak the jet settings" based on your altitude, temperature, other performance parts, etc.
Hope this helps as well...

Probably needs to be adjusted. Not sure how you do it but I have one eton viper 90 and my bro in law has two and mine and one of his hardly smoke at all but one of his really smokes much worse then the other two. The four stroke kid quads are just way underpowered in my opinion.

JETTING!!!

I told you all a few months ago I would report how I liked the New Kasea that was given to my 8 year old daughter. Well, so far it runs well and has about 12 hrs on it. We just moved and have not had much time to ride. But I tell you after following this thing for any length of time it makes me wish I had got her a four stroke hands down!!! It smokes bad and stinks like hell! I used a sink elbow from Low's and put a small K&N on it like a small snorkel. It looks cool and works well after I restricted some of the air flow. If you have a solution to make some of the smoke go away please let me know.
Now I'm starting to look around to see if I can find a certain type of scooter with a 90cc-150cc 4stroke motor I could swap in to this Kasea 90. I'd prefer a fully automatic tranny. So If you have a sayjestion please send it my way. I have welding and fitting experience. So putting a motor in should be fairly easy but need to find the right one.

Far as being ridable the first thing she said after ridding it for a few hours is "It's a cushy ride Dad!" I can tell its much more rider friendly than the old Badger we had. Especially now that she don't have to shift gears. But no one in my family wants to ride behind her that's for sure. I'm wondering if maybe there is too much oil being mixed in with the gas causing it to smoke?
I also removed the restrictors out of the carb, clutch and the walk behind kill switch. I removed the safety switch from the hand brake for starting. Personally I feel it is safer for her on hill climbs if it dies to restart and not have to mess with the hand brake that she can't really grip anyway.
Getusummm can you send me more info, some pictures, and price for the "Honda 125m engine and electronics package(minus wiring)"? And what kind of tranny/clutch does it have? What kind of bike did it come out of?

I did expect some smoke but not to be smoked out. I have rode bikes for 23 years, two and four stroke. But this is by far the worst "new" two stroke I have ever followed. Last weekend I trail rode with a KTM 380 exc and his bike didn't smell/smoke a 1/3 of what this Kasea does.
I restricted the amount of air coming through the K$N because it ran like crap when it was not restricted. And I have play with the amount of restriction but has not made much difference far as smoking. The oil I was given with the Kasea is made by KLOTZ and reads 2-stroke TechniPlate, Motorcycle Performance, Synthetic Lubricant, Injection or Premix...... $10.oo for a Qt.
I have not tried jetting it or using a different two stroke oil. So maybe I should try going up in size on the main jet and open up the restriction on the K&N. Does that sound right? What about the oil any sayjestions?

Yes, .... The factory oil injection is still hooked up. And could very well be dumping way to much oil in. I'll try to find some more info on it and check out the other suggested web pages. I'm going to look into the oil mix before anything. If someone wants to post a suggestion on fine tuning the oil mixer that would be great. I'm not sure if I want to remove it cuz we go on some long rides and I can always swipe some gas out of a 4 stroke for it. But I guess I could keep some oil on hand too.
Posted by: rscoyote
Well, there is nothing I could find on adjusting the oil injection. So I took the gear off the crank shaft for the oil pump and mixed the gas 40:1.. It smokes about 50% less now. I will be switching to a synthetic mix and try 50:1. I'm also going to be rejetting it and will let you know how it runs with the K&N restricted
Posted by: rscoyote
Thanks for the info.... In my last reply I meant to say "run the K&N unrestricted" My dirt bike riding buddy is a carb mechanic by trade. Its just a matter of him getting the time to help me if I run into trouble. Some times better to get a second opinion than his, because I know he don't like this Kasea..... Spike99 what carb do you run with a K&N, and are there any used carbs from another bike that I could adapt to save some money?

if you have added a k&n filter you must rejet. i would start with about a 110 main and go from there. read the plug and go up or down, the plug will tell you all of this. also since you have added airflow to the stock carb you will have to drill the float needle seat bigger. at wide open throttle the fuel bowl will empty and the quad will sputter. the stock carb is very hard to get the jetting right with a high flow filter. at wrh racing we will not put a k&n or uni filter on a stock carb because of the jetting problem.
