I am just curious if anyone has a kid racing a sportrax 90. My son has been riding a sportrax 90 and I know it wants to try his hand at racing. He is 13 and quite cable of riding a bigger quad but as far as being legal the 90 is the biggest bike he can ride until he turns 16. He has ridden a 300ex several times but I think it would be to big for him to start racing. What mods should I make to the 90 to make it race ready?

Thanks for the info. But if I cut the pink wire will that void the warranty? Thanks for the tip on the filter and the pipe. What pipe would you recommend? Also I need to get some nerf bars. Where would be a good place to order these?

Thanks alot for your advice. I am going to start with some small upgrades and then maybe go in to the engine mods. I have to find out more info about the racing classes here. My son and I have only watched but are getting some info on being a member at the track. Football season is just around the corner so there might not be much riding for him for a while but I will definately start on some upgrades.

those mods are the way to go,but until you get rid of the speed restrictor (pink wire) you will be slow in 4th gear.

hello , if you are looking for more mods for the 90 there are lote out there! i have a complete pro production honda mod quad . if you have a comletely stock start by cutting the pink wire , this is your rev limitter . it does help as long as your lad is knowlegdeable enough to respect the extra rpm . An air filter by twin air or uni filter will help out also . there are a # of pipes for the little machine . hope i could help get ya started .

there are pipes from big gun , alien, and others . it is claimed to be the biggest header pipe on the big gun for the 90's but we got one of the first aliens ( to be different ) and it works fine . the pink wire is a very slight difference and it only limits 4th gear . so top speed . the nerf bars we got from california , hard to get ahold of . dg alloy series . very clean on the bike ! the honda is by far one of the harder bikes to mod but it has a great frame to work from and is built tough . how old is your son and what is the rules on classes in your area ?
hope i helped out . there is MUCH more than can be done but it gets pretty expensive so ? all on the size of your pocket book ? lol.

you could get the motor bored and stroked for more displacement , add a bigger carb, sprockets sizes and you would have a FAST quad .
we race against predeter 90's . lt 80's . and the ds 90's ,, all great bikes but the honda when done rite will smoke the competion. there are also double a arm kits available , axles for more width , depends on how much you want to do . what are the limits for the classes there ?

yes those are some great ideas . i have just put a double chrome alloy front end kit on my 90. there was some welding and stuff but the kits works ausome it widdens 4" and put the wheels ahead 2". i have rigged up a hydraulic brake kit to get rid of those cables . the boy uses the front brakes now ! plus itp aluminum rims with 10"rims front , and 19" tires ... to clear this kit .
i have the motor bored and stroked , along with a 26 mm card . 10 : 1 compression .with a wild cam . the stock 90 has 3 hp. we have our around 12 hp now ....with all that power i needed a kevlar clutch kit with steel plates. this is a ausome quad to mod and we always pull holeshots with it , very surprising for the only 4 stroke , and with gears in our class.. My 11 year old is racing a trx 90. We removed the air box cover, rejetted carb (waiting for parts to use a atc110 carb) replaced the exh pipe and silencer with a fatter pipe and 'cone' silencer, cut the pink rev wire, used a 'mild' performance cam, wheel spacers at 4 corners (the kid dont weigh much), modified the rear shock to acually travel with a childs weight, and used 18" tires on the rear instead of 19 effectivly changing the gear ratio. Thats it so far and it flies! Really needs something like works shocks to handle better.

I put a white bros pipe, uni filter, xr 100 main jet in my daughters. It helped quite a bit. You can really tell the diff in the sand. Just had her first flat track race with it and beat a couple of boys on 110cc quad. I like the WB pipe myself.
