I have an 03 Pred 90 and we flat track race and trail ride in W. KY. i have done the following: WRH race pipe, Hentricks air box (the "Z")with Uni air filter and jet kit(110 main jet-35 pilot), .020 over sized piston, trail port and polish, .015" or 0.38mm planed off the cylinder head, Boyesean dual stage reeds, blocked off the oil injector and run 44:1 fuel/oil mixture using Klotz super tech, remove three of the variators(in clutch), we also have a smaller rear sproket that we sometime use. it runs great on the trails, hills etc. I would suggest use Hetricks or WRH for hop up parts for the smaller quads because they really understand how to get the power out of them versus some of the companies that usually only deal with "adult" quads. hope this helps.

Mark,
Does WRH have a single throttle cable for a stock carb for a pred 90. If so, do you like them or are they heavier than the stock cable?
thanks

have you checked back with Hot seat about wanting more? What pipe are you running??
We did some minor mods and got alot more speed out of the 90. WRH reeds, removed the oil injector and Jumper clip removed. You should have alot more than you would need with what you have so far, unless of course you need more for racing..

The WRH throttle cable is great!!! Alot easier on the thumb and it is far better than the stock junk that is on there now. Call WRHRACING for all your racing needs.

I just left a message for more information on the throttle cable. Is it difficult to put in. I am new at this, but I am willing.

Installing the new throttle cable is very simple. Get a hold of WRHracing.com . If memory serves me well the cable came with instructions. It only takes 15- 20 minutes and we are no mechanical wizards here either.

TY in advance

Sorry but I find it intreging that a french women is on here looking for advice on clutch work for her son/daughters predator 90 that she's doing herself. That's awesome!!
I'll keep it clean, this is a kids atv discussion after all. But I feel funny.

Anyway, 5.5 gram molossi rollers are what most people use. and yes that rubber cylindric thingy is what you remove. Good luck

don't forget about drilling the clutch for more stall speed and putting in red shoe springs, I have a method to getting them on because it is not easy. There is a lot to this, are you sure you don't want to call Hetrick racing for a clutch kit? They will know everything you need.

1 _ What would you say by "drilling the clutch "??
For the weight rollers , there is a lot of choice in Malossi parts for scooter in France ;I 'll find after this rollers .
2 _ For the springs , I have the stock one .Can you say me the "hard" of red one for trying to find the same in France ?

Uhh, now I really feel funny, I just thought because your avatar was..ah.....nevermind.
Mark will help you, WHR is awesome. But here is a link on how and why to drill the clutch,
Drilled clutch
My son is also 10 and has only raced once, but I've been through all this clutch stuff, it's all apart in the garage right now waiting on a red torque spring now, I had a yellow one in there but it wasn't stiff enough(easy people). so I hope UPS shows up today.

tonnerre,

Welcome to this forum. We don't see "1" posting very often. You are looking for more power out of your 90. Is that "bottom end" power or high end speed? Sometimes, people use the word "power" to describe either situation. Billy Holt can definately help you get the "MAX" out of your Pred 90. He helped me gain more "bottom end" power for our deep mud trails. We are very pleased with his advise and his performance parts.

If you are looking for more "bottom end" power and don't care about loosing some stop end speed, a simple smaller front sprocket or bigger back sprocket will do the trick. If you are looking for more bottom end power with same or more top end speed, then give Billy a call. Depending upon your unique riding conditions and wants, there's all sorts of upgrades that can be done. For education reading, surf: - Press Here - Some of this info does apply to the 2 stroke minis.

Hope this helps.

hey if u want more power get aaen to make u a pipe it will add like 5 horse power to ur bike

you still have a rev limit on the stock cdi even after clipping the wire. i would start with a new cdi and high compression head from billy at wrh. does the hot seat pipe have a expansion chamber or is it like stock with just a pipe and silencer. the predators are finicky when it comes to clutch mods. a little help would be a narrower belt off a scrambler 90. also remove the rubber donuts that are under the clutch shoes.

Mark

Posted by: HQR109

take the pulley and clutch assembly apart and remove the 3 clutch springs. the shoes will swing outward and under each shoe is a small rubber donut, looks like a small o-ring. remove them and put the assembly back together.

Mark

Posted by: HQR109

its not a good idea to take rollers out of a predator. it works on the lt80 but can cause damage to the predator. better idea is to go to lighter rollers and use all 6.

Mark

Posted by: HQR109

the clutch and pulley has to come apart. there is a large nut on the pulley. put that nut in a vise and turn the pullet counter clockwise with a large pipe wrench or large set of channel lock pliers and they will screw apart. be careful as when thay come apart they will spring apart as the large torque spring is between them. when you get them apart you will see the 3 clutch shoe springs, take them off and swing the shoes out as thay are attached on one end, under each clutch shoe is a small rubber donut that youi remove.

Mark

i use a scratch awl to remove and put on the clutch springs. it works great and i can change springs in just a couple of minutes. the 5.5 rollers are the most common used but the rollers are all according to rider weight. we use a lot heavier rollers in our stroker motors. rich hetrick is a knowledgable guy but shes not getting too shabby of advice from me since i turn wrenches on mini motors every day for WRH racing.

Mark

Posted by: HQR109

yes we have the single cable for the stock carb, it makes the thumb throttle much easier to push so the kids thumbs dont get tired so easy.

Mark

Posted by: HQR109

go to the link on the drilled clutch and it will explain that. the rollers used are usually the malossi. most the high performance mini quad parts are actually built for scooters. we usually use the yellow malossi torque spring. that is the big spring between the clutch and pulley. on the 3 small clutch springs, color you use is according to brand, on the malossi spring kit with the 3 different colors we use the green springs. if you get the frc springs use the red ones.

Mark

Posted by: HQR109

i will get the malossi numbers for the springs tomorrow and post back.

I want more power for my predator 90.What can I do ?
I have Hot Seat kit (clutch and vario , pipe and CDI).

Posted by: tonnerre

Thanks for your answer.I'm french people and excuse me for my bad english.I have Hot seat pipe and CDi.
I removed the oil injector.May be I don't understand very well but you said if I want power at small rpm or if I want max speed.I make races and I need power everywhere.Power for the start (torque) and power for the speed (hp).
After pipe (ithink i will chane because it broke 3 times), CDI , what can I change???
Which is the difference between stock CDI and Hot seat CDI ? What is the max rpm ?

Posted by: tonnerre

Thanks mark ,
can you say me what you want to say by "rubber donuts that are under the clutch shoes".

Posted by: tonnerre

Thanks Mark ,
I try tomorrow. It will be the first time I put my hands in the clutch !!

Posted by: tonnerre

1- When you change your exhaust pipe , do you change your sparkplug ?I see somebody changes the BPR7HS by a B8HS ?
2-If you put carbon reeds , do you change it more often ?
3- If you put a uni filter , is there no problem with the engine "life" ?
4- Do you change your rollers weight very often ?

Posted by: tonnerre

Mark ,
I think you know very good the Predator and I need your help. You speak about yellow torque spring and red shoe spring of Malossi .Do you have the "reference" of it ? It will be more easy for me to find it in France than buy it in USA.

Posted by: tonnerre

Billy
are you here

Posted by: tonnerre

No , i dont know what will be new on the Predator 2005.
I ear on other forums it will have a rear brake disc and a reverse mod . And you ??Do you have any photo ?

Posted by: tonnerre

For the rollers weight , I found in Malossi parts 5.4 gr , but no 5.5 gr like you ?
The number part is 66 9417 EO (diameter 15 mm , long 12 mm) Is it this one ?
For the clutch spring (the big one ),do you have a number part in Malossi parts ? or the diameter of the spring ?
how do you make for changing shoe springs in few minutes ? I need your help.
Franck
