facing the fron of the quad it is right under the right hand fender. Has 2 small phillips screws with a piece of thin metal between, just loosen the screws and pull out the tab.

Welcome to this forum. We don't see "1" post very often...
I'm not too sure about the '04 Sportsman 90. For the 2003 Scrambler and '03/04 Pred-90 line, you have to remove its CDI jumper. For a wiring schematic of this jumper, see #12 within -Press Here-
As a suggestion, look in your '04 Sportsman Owner's Manual (hopefully you also received a manual with your unit) under its CDI or Speed Control section.
