Well, I guess I'll jump on the LT80 bandwagon here BR>Now don't get me wrong. The others mentioned I like also. Same but different is what I say. What one lacks it makes up for in other areas. But don't think a swingarm makes the grass greener. BR>BUT now that I've had my hands in building a Eton Viper, I can tell you that the LT80 is cheaper to make fast and get it on the track. And the speed of the LT80, well the results speak for themselves. The easy way (at least for me) to explain is: the Lt you modify parts and need no aftermarket carb and pipe. The Kasea/Eton/Etc. you must buy a pipe, carb, clutch parts, and a head.
The suspensions are the same for all the brands: They all are terrible!! So it takes the same amount of $ there for any brand.
The best brand is the one you buy for your child!! Even if it is one of those slow, non racable, 4 stroke mini's

My good friend and I have been racing bikes and quads since I was 8. He is a few years older than I am and has a family. His son has been racing a LEM 50 bike for about a year or so with good results. He likes it, but seems to be a little scared of it. So my father our raptor 80 over to thier house and the boy tore it up. He rides it much faster than his bike and seems to have more fun.
This raises the question, what to get him now? The raptor 80 has been very reliable and easy to use for us, but I've heard that it is significantly underpowered. The boy will be racing all kids of things from mx to ice and also riding trails. Could I get some recommendations from the knowledgable? Thank you very much.

We have an older Badger (same as the Raptor) and a LT80. As far as rock solid no problems the Badger has been untouchable. That thing starts and goes and goes.... It has even been seen running upside down in the creek!! The LT is by far quicker, faster and easier to ride but not as quite as reliable. Don't get me wrong, If I had to pick between the two which to get rid of, it would be the Badger just because my kids are at the point of out growing it performance wize. I don't believe the Raptor is underpowered, but under geared. If racing is in the future, along with trail riding, it's my opion that you couldn't go wrong with a Suzuki LT80. But thats just me.

LT80 is a good machine. There are however othere cheaper macines that may be better for racing. Kaseas seem to be the overall choice for racing (LRX is same but cheaper), E-Tons, DRR, and Dinli are popular as well. If racing is in your future, hold on to your wallet! I'm sure others will opine on this matter as well.
