Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had info on a Monsoon ATV. I'm looking for their site but cannot find one yet. I have another 1.5 hours till I go look at a used one and have no idea what I may be getting into.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks in advance.

[Sarcastic] Wow what a ton of info [/Sarcastic] Hee Hee Hee
Well I picked up a Monsoon 90 for the kids yesterday and I must say those little ATVs impress me. I left the kids at home so it would be easier to turn down if there was something I did't like.
Since there was no kid there to test it I ended up hopping on it and taking it for a ride. At first it felt like it didn't want to move like I expected and then it was actually peppy even with me on it. I bet it gets better after a plug change and new gas, the stuff that was in it has been there for a while.
We settled on a price and I took it home.
I can't wait to take the kids outside and let them try it a little. Whoohooooo!!!

The number still works, I beleive they changed their name to Yerf-Dog. I called before buying ours and you can order your parts there. If they don't have them they will give you a number to the place that can. The previous owner said they had good service.

They already come with rear disc, just not hydraulic.

Well we have barely used it at all. I haven't had the time to adjust the carb so it will only put 250 feet before it sputters and dies. If you have the throttle screw turned out and can give it a bit of throttle then you will not have to worry. It is a bit peppy and the rear disk brake is not to shabby.
Even with the next to bald tires when taking sharp turns the tires rub the fender. I'll look into a fix for this later this summer. I was originally told it was a Kawasaki motor but Kawasaki and Suzuki as far as I knew only made 50 and 80s.
All in all it's a pretty slick machine but then again We have barely used it at all.

I never had to work on our Monsoon. My problem was that I didn't let it warm up enough. Lately it has been running great and the kids have been cruizing around quite a bit on it.
I do not know what type of carb it has or any more detail on the carb at all. I basically fill the gas and oil and that's it. the most work I have done is Charge the battery (kids drive too slow to charge it) and swap out the bolts for the fenders to ones with nylon locking nuts.
My next fix will be to the mounts for the front and rear fenders. One of the rear fenders sag a bit but rebending the rear mount will fix that and the front has to be bent back so they stop catching the tires on sharp turns. Other then that it has been a great little machine. Heck dad and mom even cruise around on it when we get a chance just for fun or to warm it up faster. BR>
I would still like to find smalled brake handles and need to get a thumb saver for it. The thumb saver will be soon but the rest can wait till I get some of the many other projects on my list done.
As far as any questions about the machine go I'd contact them at

They are not that bad of a machine. You can contact Justin at Dinli for pipes tyhat fit. Tell him I said, the Dinli Ex-Pipe fits good. You will need a 28mm carb and clutch kit. A-Arms are old style E-Ton set-up. You can swap to a hydralic rear brake with the Dinli brake set-up. He can fix you up.Justin Hall

I know. You can get the caliper and hand assy straight off a Dinli to go on it.

What is your opinion of the monsoon 90. I have an opportunity to trade my 2004 LT50 for a 2001 Monsoon while getting money back or I can just keep my 50 and purchase a e-ton 90 for 1995.0 out the door with a free helment. My e-mail address is jrthomas@pennswoods.net

i just got a monsoon 90...was doing the same thing you said about puttering out...fixed that and it runs great. The other thing is that the carb keeps filling up and draining out the overflow....now i havent worked on this personally but i'm told there are 2 holes...one is the overflow and the other is a drain(with a screw in it). Any idea how to fix this or where i can find a repair manual on he carb. And by chance...do you know the make of the carb and the motor?? thanks

Hey thanks a lot for replying. In the meantime i found a few things out about these machines. We had it running great but the float in the carb is bent and it keeps flooding out. Anyway the motor is a Sundiro supposedly the same company that makes polaris motors. The carb is a mikuni. I found a place in Illinois that carries everything for these machines except the rear fender and seat.
This is the name of the place:
Cole's Cycle Sales

DuQuion, IL 62832

I bought one a few years ago for my kids and it's been a great little machine. I enjoy riding it myself, even though it's a bit cramped for adults. I have no complaints, but I have had some minor problems with the carb. The needle valve has gotten stuck a couple of times and the only way to get it to work is to take the carb off and clean the dirt out of it. From the factory the carb was a little on the lean side which caused some cold starting difficulties and poor idling even after it was warmed up. The carb is adjustable for idle mixture though so a quick turn of the screwdriver took care of that problem. You will want to put locktite on all the fasteners, at least those you don't want to have to replace, as they all seem to work themselves loose and fall off.
I would reccomend one for a bargain machine that you and your kids will get years of enjoyment out of!
